Subject: 1000 point necron list

I'm trying to come up with a suitable necron list for an escalation league I'm in. I've had some practice games against a buddy of mine who plays space wolves in the league (of which we have four SW players). I can't seem to do anything other than play ultra defensive. He's got a drop pod with a shooty dread, cannis and some thunderwolf cav, three long fang units and two grey hunter units in rhinos. What the &$%# am I supposed to do against that? Like I said I've tried a couple of lists and at best I can make it to turn 3 or 4 unless my die are rolling really hot. So here's my latest incarnation of a 1000 point list - please help!
HQ: Overlord
RC: Pulsetek, Transtek, transtek
HQ: Overlord
RC: Pulsetek, Transtek, transtek
Elite: Ctan Shard with writhing and swarm
Troop: 5 man immortals
Troop: 5 man immortals
Heavy: Annihilation Barge
Heavy: Annihilation Barge
One of the transteks go with each of the immortals and everyone holes up in cover except the barges. Ctan makes everyone crawl towards me while the transteks make it painful to move - most armies won't have more than 4 units that are moving. Pulseteks can at least remove one model a turn if they can hit. On turns 2 & 3 I'll pulse unless they've got some serious heavy long distance shooters in range. The Barges will try to stay at 24" as much as possible. Half the armies in the league have either acute senses or night vision. Hopefully they can whittle stuff down along with dangerous terrain tests.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've tried running wraiths, destroyers and scarabs but at 1000 you can't get enough of any one thing to make a decent ACL.

Without drastically changing your list (i'm somewhat skeptical of the tremorcron build) i'd consider swapping the immortals for more warriors for more dakka if you are just having them shoot. I'd consider finding the points to give your pulse teks lances for some strength 8 ap2 shots. I'd consider dropping 2/4 of your tremorteks to afford other things. if you do this, you could also drop the second OL, and buff up your troops, or grab another annihilation barge, maybe some tomb blades? If you can find the points, get the OL a scythe and command barge, he'll rock transport-heavy forces Again, take my advice with a grain of salt, I foot slog, so its a pretty different army for me.

Thanks for the suggestions. Replacing the immortals with the warriors has some merit. I can get more guys to sacrifice if need be and they won't be moving a whole lot so what ever comes in range will get the double tap when they reach the 12" mark. Downside is no extra shots on 6s, less powerful shot and worse armor save. Admittedly the ctan is an extreme point sink. I'm hoping that slowing down the onslaught from my opponent will give me some time to reduce their numbers both through them just moving and with the barges. That and making it night fighting for two turns so their long fangs or psyriffle dreads can't hit me.

The solar pulses are helpful, but the accute senses can ideally still let them see you at around 30 inches away.
The problem with long fangs and psyfleman dreds, is that they don't need to move to attack you, you gotta have a way to reach out and "touch them" if you will.
The lance teks could help you there, only costs an additional 10 pts.
I'm assuming vs. marines and knights, you'll be sticking your immortals and warriors in cover, so the change in armor save is less noticable, since i imagine the weapons in question already ignore their armor.

I thought harbingers of destruction (pulseteks) defaulted with the eldritch lance. Also, I know the acute senses tend to screw things up but on average you're only going to roll 7 on two dice (even on rerolls) so more than likely the long fangs won't be able to get past 21" or so - at least I hope not. I'll find out this Thursday night anyway. Necrons just seem to really suck until you get closer to 2000.

I find them fairly strong at 1500, its where i play most of my battles. The crypteks all have a "Staff of Light" unless they are upgraded, or that was my original thought when i read about the ways they can be upgraded, i'll look again when I get home. Also, playing against Space Wolves and Grey Knights is never easy, they are the strongest codexes atm

You're telling me! Especially SW. I play GK so I'm pretty familiar with them but SW is just insane. Even their standard troop choice is outstanding. And they can take 4 HQ choices?! I still don't see a downside to them. What's with GW???

The real issue is that for all the utility they get from those troops, they are really under-valued. They ought to be much more expensive.
But i digress, having a plan to deal with long-fangs will be helpful, solar pulses can limit their shooting impact, as well as a smart deployment.
Otherwise, you really just gotta pour fire into them, and hope you start killin' i guess

Nope, check the FAQ: the staff Harbingers get when they're promoted from regular Cryptek does not count toward their "upgrade" gear (that would be things like Solar Pulse and Gaze of Flame).
