How competitive would Reaver Jetbikes be if they were a troops choice? Saying there was an HQ that allowed you to take them as troops, would that army do well?

This is a rather pointless question because it has no answer only speculation.

All it would do is free up some fast attack slots, so unless your solidly sold on taking 3 units scourges and/or beastmasters I don't really see it helping that much.

Reavers are too fragile to take as your only scoring units, it would be hard to make them last all game long. Your still going to need units of warriors or wyches.

This also depends on the cost and utility of the SC that unlocks them. If the guy is rather lack luster in stats/equipment or doesn't do much of anything else and costs a bunch of points it doesn't help much either.

To that end however, I think the one HQ that is really missing is a biker HQ. The Baron is the only HQ that can get faster than infantry movement. Everyone else needs to join another squad that has some sort of ride.

Eh, I don't think they would be any better or worse as troops. It would have made a cool army concept though. One thing I do miss is taking an Archon on a bike or board. It was stupid that they took that option away from an archon.

It would look fething awesome, and die very quickly..

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Yeah that was fun.

As for the OP I don't think they would be that competative. Consider that a venomspam or DL spam army, or even a WWP list can hit your opponent turn one pretty well. I think that an all reaver list would die pretty quickly to a vulkan list or anything with AP5 templates and who doesn't have those? Would it be cool looking? Yeah but just not that competative. Now if there was an HQ that let reavers be scoring like Pedro does to Sternguard that would be nice and I could definently see more of a use for them in my army.

BT uses the Codex Astartes as toilet paper. They’re an Imp Fist successor, recruit from multiple planets, and are known to be the largest Chapter in the galaxy. They’re on a constant Crusade, keeping it real for the Emperor and not bumming around like the other guys. They hate psykers and can’t ally with them. They’re basically an entire chapter of Chaplains. CC lunatics. What every Space Marine should aspire to be, if not trapped in a Matt Ward nightmare.

Would be good, especially if you rolled a 6 on the drug table... whole Reaver army with FNP, yes please.

Yeah but you have just as much of a chance of rolling a 1 for those drugs in which case your whole army gets screwed because nobody has fleet.

Curb stomping in the Eye of Terror!

I think GW screw'ed the pooch a bit...

Most effective DE lists are vehicle spammed...

If they'd let any of the HQ take a bike (ie, Archons/Haemy)... then an all foot list would definately be doable.

Sigh, I was just thinking it would look really cool, but idk about how hard it would lose

It would lose pretty hard.

Fast Attack is the least-likely slot to be filled in any DE list. It's the area of the FOC that gets filled up after everything else. The one really competitive option is beast squads.

Besides, bikes really don't work that well in larger numbers. They don't have the CC tools to be a major assault threat, they can do anti-tank fairly well, but their anti-infantry shooting is lacking for their cost. There are the bladevanes, but in large numbers, trying to find ways to turbo-boost across the board would become a cluttered mess. You wouldn't want to field a whole lot of these things.

In my personal opinion, Reaver Jetbikes work best in 78 point suicide squads. They'll either pop a tank that cost twice as much as them and then die, or sneak around making bladevane attacks of opportunity and blocking an enemy objective on the last turn.
