Hello everyone. I have gotten an interest in Necrons recently, and I was wondering what if this list I made with Battlescribe is a well balanced one that would work well in a game.

Please let me know if this would work well, and if not, inform me of the improvements that should be made. Also, I'm trying to keep it limited to what current models are available.

I planned to make this from 2 battle boxes as a start, by the way.

1) CCB overlords are light units, you have too much wargear on him. Try using anarkyr as your OL. Basically the wargear anarkyr uses is even a little more than you want your OL using, but anarkyr is just such a boss.

1b) Get some RC action, lords, crypteks, you name it. Just get them. Convert them, do anything.*

2) DMs are tricky, if you <really> want to use them, then you should use two squads of 5, and give them crypteks so you can make use of the 2+ wounds on a flamer-template.

2b) I would make those DMs into tesla Immortals. Strait up, much more reliable unit. Plus you make them eternals then. Boom boom!

3) Lych should be fielded, in this size of an army, at least at 7-8models, and that would be considering RC support. And... since you have none... bleh, just drop them, and make them into normal lords and crypteks. ez sqeezey.

4) break those warrior blobs up, one unit of 20 is plennnnnty strong, having two is just sucking your points into a black whole. (10,10,20+10immortals)

4b) if you're going to use 40 warriors, make ghost arks. doomsday cannons look awesome on paper, but in game they're just asking to be a) useless, as your opponent will avoid the threat on them b) free KP for the enemy team unless you dedicate a guard for them

4c) doomsday arks wont even give your monolith support either, since the mono is going to be front lines. :/.

5) drop the mono. pick up two anni barges for the same $ cost, or look into getting a second OL (maybe imohtep or a custom OL with phaeron to stick with the 20-squad)

Conclusion: the battleforces rule for necron, but you really should make at least one of your ark's a ghost. your overlord shouldn't have a CCB if you want him to be so bling'd.

-------> And if you're going to bling him like you have... go WS, so, so, so, so, so, soooo much better than gauntlet! Never put an overlord with anything but a warscythe in that CCB!

You could always use the mono regardless of what i've said, I just think it got nerfed to sin, and if you're buying an army fresh go for the new flavor choices like barges, they give you much more bang for your buck, and with scarabs you dont have to sweat the av14 targets, as you can send a WS CCB after av14, and your scarabs, and that will only end badly for the enemy av14.

What would you say are good choices for a Royal Court? I currently have 2 Necron Lords with Resurrection Orbs and Void Blades, Harbinger of Despair with Nightmare Shroud, and Harbinger of Storm with Lightning field.

Is that good, or should I add or remove some Harbingers?

Lightning crypteks are alot of fun, but they're the essence of random. Despair is really good too, but really situational unless you're planning up a deep strike list or something similiar (or sending them with the deathmarks)

As boring as it may sound, having at least two destruction crypteks can be lifesavers. Just proxy them as your other crypteks if you want, but make sure you have the ability to feild multiple destruction crypteks.

35 points for a 8/2 36" assault shot isnt bad in our army (in fact it's amazing), and i've seen tourny lists where some fools bring as many as 8-10 destruction crypteks just to pimp out a gunline army. IMO that's overkill, but the point stands, they're really good at popping transports and they give the necron some 36" assault love.

basically: lords with orbs and MSS, crypteks of destruction if you're playing an all comers list, or respective crypteks of the other denominations if you've got a specific plan.

(warscythes > every (over)lord weapon, +2 str, power weapon, and 2d6 for popping AV is just like... wow. How can that even just cost 10 points?! Paying 10 points for voidblades is a true waste, void blades should have been free, especially since you can't double up on them or anything else that benefits from being a 1h ccw for the +1a)

Alright, here's the updated list. I didn't remove the Monolith, simply because I have always wanted to use one. However, I did do some simple editing to make this a better overall list.

I completely agree that if your overlord is going to be sweep attacking on the barge you have way too many upgrades. res orbs and survival upgrades like weave are not necessary if he's on the barge.

i would split the warrior groups into 10 men each just to give the enemy more targets. it will make it easier to hold objectives with more troop choices running round.

Dropping the points off your overlord could go into a royal court for some crypteks, all of which are useful, or a lord for some close combat ability. lords and crypteks make great seargents for your squads as well.

I'm personally not a fan of deathmarks i pefer lychguard or more monoliths. ill never forget the time a bounced multimelta shot vapurised the landraider my lychguard were stood in front off

Apart from that the list looks solid. plenty of antitank in your heavy support choices and a monolith because its scary as .

KEEP FIRING, KEEP FIRING, EMPTY YOUR CLIPS, NO SURVIVORS
