I don't know how gimmicky this list is, but it's an attempt for a different list.

I'd love to have a storm Raven in a competitive list, but I do concede I'm finding it difficult; They aren't truly the greatest tanks ever and I am at pains to include them.

OF course, to make up for this I have those 3 psiflemen; in my mind these are the equivalent of my predators in my normal 2k vanilla marines.

I think this list is going to struggle with AV13 and 14, but otherwise will be a pain in the neck to deal with; I'm also worried it may be a tad flimsy.

HQ:
Castellan Crowe (I solemnly pledge never to put him with a squad, because I recognise that he is not an independent character.)

I'll be splitting the Purifiers up into two squads, defensive and aggressive.

There will be
2 psicannons
2 halberds
1 hammer
in each squad, except the aggressive squad has a sergeant bloke. (Whom I assume will carry a halberd.)

The aggressive squad will also have the rhino.

The defensive squad will sit in the wings with dreadnoughts, responding to threats as they do. Libby and crowe will stay here.

If the opportunity presents itself, Crowe will ride in the raven alone. He will only do so to get into combat. (tie up a unit for a turn or two.)

The raven's kitted out to take on infantry - swarms, I suppose. moving at 12", it may fire 4 S7AP4 rending shots, 3 S6AP4 shots and between 6 and 12 S5AP5 shots - all twin-linked.
The missiles will be a nice touch if facing a 'nid list or an eldar list with Eldrad.

Thoughts?

I am willing to dump the Storm Raven if it's completely uneconomical, but in my mind it has a good opportunity to cause damage and would be hell on earth for a swarm of gribleys (not that anything about this list is unable to take on swarms.)

My only concern is the lack of anti-tank. The list has at most 6 S8 shots at its disposal to describe as anti-tank. I believe this is fairly weak and that it will fail quickly in the face of LR and heavy tank spam.

Thoughts on how to improve on this issue?

List wise, I can't see what the Librarian is doing for you. The Librarian can only go in the Stormraven and will only hold back assaulting units. You will rarely use shrouding as from your tactics the Stormraven won't be going any where.

Stormravens like all vehicles should come in pairs for target saturation. Speaking of target saturation, you don't have much. Three Rhinos and a Stormraven isn't a lot at all. My own Purifier unit at the same points has six Rhinos and four Dreadnoughts and sometimes those Rhinos can go down quickly.

You're tactics are also wrong. When you say aggressive squad, they don't look any more aggressive than any other squad. A aggressive squad is something going probably for combat and armed with several halberds and hammers.

Having a unit stay in the Stormraven is bad. You have no firing hatch to fire those psycannons out of and will be moving about to get into range with the hurricane bolters and other short ranged weaponry btw you don't need hurricane bolters. Also, Crowe isn't a c.c beast, I wouldn't even bother using a Raven to get Crowe into combaty at all.

As you also said yourself, anti tank is a issue.

I wouldn't have said AT is a problem. You have 12 TL S8 shots a turn, plus 36 S7 rending shots (18 if you move). If you're worried about AT then suit up the Raven with TL Lascannon and TL Multimelta, also saves you 50 points.

I agree with mercer though, your aggressive and defensive squads are alike apart from one has a rhino. I understand the whole 'two psycannons firing from the fire points' milarky but you could try putting all the psycanons in one squad (kinda like a purgation squad) and then taking 4 halberds and a hammer in the assault squad. Could even swap out the rhino for a razorback then and either use it as a psyback or maybe plonk a TL lascannon on it. Just a few suggestions. And yes, your librarian isn't really doing anything at the moment. You'll need to keep all your defensive units together to make full use of his powers. If you plan on doing this then thats fine.
