81 days after I received a box of beautifully cast resin parts from the UK, I present… Forgeworld Reaver Titan 1108 - Saevus Verum!

[

Larger sized and more pictures at 30mm-madness

Also posts about:
  • Building the legs

  • Painting the legs

  • Painting the weapon servitors

  • Building the Reaver Titan PowerFist

  • Pining the Reaver Titan shoulders

  • Magnetizing the Reaver Titan arms/weapons

  • Cleaning the Reaver Titan Resin

  • At some point, if there is interest, I'll replicate the 'how to' posts from my blog to dakka dakka for any future Reaver Titan builders out there. I have a few more 'how to's to build (e.g. wiring LEDs into the cockpit) first.

[edited a bunch of times, learning how to post to Dakka Dakka. Mostly getting the images to the ideal size]

The pen is mightier then the sword, but you must keep a sword handy for when the pen runs out of ink.

Yeah, the eyes turned out...interesting. I spent 2 nights shopping for the brightest 3mm red LEDs I could find... and they're almost too bright... hurts to look at them directly... and the whole point of these miniatures is to create something notable to look at.

On the other hand, it's a frikken' Reaver Titan, should hurt a little bit.

Excellent work - you have done justice to this awesome model.

Having built one myself, just how awful are those leg armor plates? Took me hours to get right...

Well worth the 81 days of work to complete it. I always cry a little inside when someone drops the money on one of these and then gives it a poor paintjob. Clearly, that is not the case here. Excellent work all around. Would love to see some shots of it on a battlefield.

Yeah, the armor plate were interesting. Just to figure out which leg plate when where on each leg took time... I used JB-Weld, lots of carefully placed rubber bands and lots of fiddling to attach. I let the supports bond to the plates overnight, was terrified that I'd wake up and something would have shifted. Then a few weeks later when everything was painted had to go through the same overnight 'hope nothing shifts/rubber band' exercise. Fortunately they came out ok!

So I've been painting Warhammer 40k for over a year now and have yet to play a single game! That's probably some sort of crime. I've played a few games of Warmachine which I really enjoyed... I just have to make time and get my butt down to the LGS and ask someone to show me the ropes.

Although I prefer weathered kits, this factory-new look is great. Kudos on the LED lights!

Nice. The Manta looks AMAZING. That's a lot of resin! How are you powering the LEDs? I ended up using a 1xAA 5V Step Up from Sparkfun with appropriate resistors wired in-line to each LED. I had to wire in parallel (so six wires total) and used 24G hookup wire, in retrospect 30G wire-wrap would have been better (less bulky, easier to deal with in the cockpit).

I agree, weathering really brings out more flavor... but I've yet to be happy with any weathering I've done in the past... once I learn how to weather on other, cheaper/smaller models I might take the plunge and weather this Titan.

I am using cr2032 3v button cell batteries, just drilled four of the holes for running lights last night, each series of ten will have it's own power and switch, with at least four flashing lights(haven't decided what color yet on those). I'm using Military grade 28Awg Kynar wire, it's super thin and can take 36 volts at 5 amps without melting. I'm probably going to end up with about 20' of wire inside, all carefully hidden so the interior will be seen.
