Hello all,

Well, I finished my very first superheavy, which is incidentally my first Ork unit not from Codex:Orks. It's a Kill Bursta, which is generally used for dropping really big pie plates.

I was surprised by how freaking big this model was! Here is a WIP image with a space marine for scale.

I made some minor conversions to the kit. The guy I bought it from had abandoned the kit unassembled, but not before he mangled the part where the main gun joins the body, so I made a hood of styrene to cover up his hackery. Some other minor stuff, such as I also changed the left side flamer to a dakkagun, which better represents the TL Big Shoota it's supposed to come with (why is there a flamer there??)

I also tried salt weathering successfully for the first time here. Much love to Gunhazard, Curnow etc for the invaluable advice on that. I also used pastel pencils to rust up some edges, but it's subtle. I also used a sponge for the first time, mostly on the ram.

At some point I might add some more options to it: for example, I could add a pair of twin-linked rokkit launchas, grot bombs, and some grot sponsons. I also have not yet glued on the top hatches, since I haven't really decided if I want them open or closed: I haven't done the Kommander that comes with him. But I might never get to doing those things, and it's "street legal" now, so here it is.

You can see on the 2 above pictures I screwed up the stencil work here a little. The overspray was kind of bad. I wound up rubbing off the edges with a damp brush to simulate peeling paint, which made it look somewhat - but not totally - better. If I ever do the sponsons and wind up spraying those in camo, I might go over the side again. However, this image is somewhat overexposed and makes it look a little worse than it is; the actually tank doesn't have a white smudgy mess all over it. I can only ever seem to get pictures that are either too bright or too dark.

Nah, no LEDs - I would have needed to have done them before I finished assembling it. Besides, there aren't really any natural places to put them - it doesn't normally have headlights, or a viewable interior to illuminate.

Also, turns out when I'm not screwing with LED's, I can get a major model done in, like, 5 days

So for as more tanks, yes. I have the 4 Forge World Grot Tanks I'll be doing in a similar scheme, as well as an additional 2 I scratchbuilt. That's probably it for armor, I don't care for the Looted Wagon too much and one Battlewagon seems adequate.

Exqusit work, it makes me think. [i]Ho shizzz orks got a BFG again. My only problem is that I feel like its missing something, I dunno I guess I figure orks to be a bit more bright in color, may be from seeing all the red vehicles. But non the less great job, wish I could produce pieces like that.
