So I have decided to get back into 40k after 3 years away from it and this time instead of playing Eldar I'm playing Orks, and more importantly speed freaks. I'm currently in the process of relearning the rules and developing a list before I start getting much of anything (which I'll post later). I'm going to build every vehicle from scratch and post what I make on here.

I've made a Trukk so far...

As you can see its made out of a variety of things (notably broken sticks of ram and part of a router) and the gunner can rotate and is removable.

I tried making some war buggies but I didn't turn out very well so for the time being I'll probably just make another Trukk or maybe even a battle wagon, however my biggest concern at the moment is that it may be a bit big, its 6 inchs long, 3 inchs wide, and 4 inchs at its highest point.

Tell me what you think so far.

You wouldn't happen to know the dimensions of a ork trukk would you? Or other vehicles for that matter.

I made another trukk, here they are next to each other...

Wow those are REALLY scratch built. Props for the effort. And bonus points for faces on the front and the utilisation of some old RAM!

Whilst the mish-mash of color and textures is a little painful on the eye now, I am very interested in seeing them once they are undercoated and/or painted.

[Second War for Armageddon] While the Blood Angels set about destroying the massive Ork horde, and the Ultramarines bent their strength to the defence of the surviving hive cities, the Salamanders took upon themselves the essential but neglected task of protecting the supply convoys, fighting rearguard actions against the Orks' advances and escorting refugee columns. So unstinting were they in these arduous but unsung duties that the Salamanders were to earn the gratitude and respect of thousands of Imperial Guardsmen and civilians. The Salamanders have become renowned as sturdy and dependable allies, a reputation that is not shared by many other, more unpredictable, Space Marine Chapters.

You ARE talking about the trukk right?

You should use some RAM to make a ram. Or even make some tank treads out of RAM (preferably ddr ram as its faster than sd ram).

You could strap a pantsless ork on something and make it look Imperial with enough Aquillas and Purity Seals. -Da Butcher

Honestly, I'd go with some used kid Toys from anyware (dollor store, goodwill, relitives) and make them out of those. It's what I did (soory no pics yet). I nabbed 4 of my younest son's toy trucks and converted then ot BWs...

I didn't really want to paint even one of them red but I started to do it anyway just to see what it looked like (maybe I'll do the other yellow). As you can see I still have to add details (checker patterns and such). Also I may use toy cars for my buggies but I feel that in order to stay in the true nature of Ork ways everything should be completely scrap built and I hate it when people can tell exactly what I made something out of and I think its fair to say that my creations are hard to tell. Lastly does anyone know the dimensions of a battle wagon?

On another note I started to get some boyz off ebay and what not, just an update.

Oh yes that is looking right Orky now. Now your thinking with bitz! Or gitz!

Can't wait to see it with some more detail. Don't know how much effort or detail you want to put in, but think about trying to put some small bits of detail that would imply the metal belonged to something else and was hacked up later. Like half of one word on one edge, and the other half on the edge of another piece. Like DAN on one, and GER! on the other etc.

As an aside, I wouldn't never have known just how truly mishmash the things were had you not posted the non-basecoated pics. So WELL DONE in that regard. And keep up the good work.

I just started painting the other trukk and ordered some more boyz off ebay along with nobz. However I want to get started on a battle wagon and I think the dimensions are 7.5 long (with deathrolla), 3.5 wide, and 3 tall, right?

I started my battle wagon today, it has a ways to go still as you can see. That gun turret is removable by the way.

It looks silly! But in an orky way. And like before I think I will reserve judgment until I see it at least basecoated.

However that gun cupola looks too clean. It needs some flashy bitz. Or could you maybe cut it up so you have a jagged cupola?

Otherwise keep up the scratch building. It will be interesting to see the whole army in the end.

Awww. But the waiting game sucks. Lets play some Necromunda instead.

But thanks and I'll keep my eye open for them later.

I redid my battle wagon a bit and to me it seems utterly colossal but I could probably actually get 20 boyz inside of it if I tried, so I'm not sure what do. Nor am I sure were to mount weapons on it. Also I finished both of my trukks but my camera battery died before I got a chance to take pictures so I'll post them later.

You should use boxes from GW stuff for the cardboard. that way you can always claim the 70% or what ever GW parts in the conversions.
