Wassup guys! I've been snooping around my codices and found my tau codex, decided to take a quick read but then it went on for hours and hours about diffrent units and now i think i've created a quick and budget tau army for those new players out there!
This army list is fairly cheap as it only consists of the battleforce and an extra box of FWs.

HQ. Shas'el Fireknife (97 points)

1st Troop choice. Firewarriors (143 points)

This list totals 749 points great for a well rounded game thats effective against SM too.
Please also give opinions and suggestions as this is also my army list.

For a new player, this list would be great to help them learn the rules. But it's not quite optimized. While this is 750 points, you could squeeze another 70-80 points into the list without hurting the efficiency/capability.

If you are trying to hit 750 and stay on the cheap side, I would suggest the follow. It will cost you a little more, but you should have a list with a bit more tooth.

Drop the Grenades from the FWs
Drop the Markerlights from the FWs
Give the second FW unit Pulse Rifles.
Drop the Gun Drone Unit
Add 2 Crisis suits (possibly w/ drones)


Otherwise, I'd suggest dropping your point target to 500. You should be able to put together a fairly strong list with 24 Firewarriors, your HQ, some Kroot (maybe), and Stealth Suits.
