Hello new to dakka and a new ork player. I've checked out some forums and thoroughly enjoyed the level of info and professionalism you all have, so really looking forward to having some questions and concerns of mine answered.
1. Mob rule- really trying to understand the benefit of it. Shouldn't it be stubborn instead of fearless to actually be an advantage? Please if theirs a particular way to implement it to your advantage please let me know. But played a skirmish against some marines and charged a mob of 20 against a squad of 5 marines. He killed 5 boyz and i got 1 odd them. Since i lost the cqb and was fearless i actually lost 10 models, but if i were stubborn i would have had 15 left and still stayed in close combat unless i rolled boxcars for an unmodified max leadership test.
2. really trying to understand the benefit of a boss pole with mob rule. As stated above fearless makes no sense to me if we can replace our leadership with number of models. but taking the rules as they are, if im fearless up to 10 models wouldn't that unit be under half strength at that point if you started with a mob of 20, so aren't ya fleeing anyways?
Any help understanding this id be really grateful, thanks.

Welcome to Dakka, and welcome to the wonderful world of ORKS!!!
I usually don't take bosspoles in mobs above 20, I'll usually only use them in trukker boy mobs, or in nob squads.

Astra Militarum
Iron Warriors Army: Enyo Company
Enyo (Greek: Ενυώ, English translation: "warlike" in Greek mythology; Roman: Bellona), was an ancient goddess of war, acting as a counterpart and companion to the war god Ares. She is also identified as his sister, and daughter of Zeus and Hera in a role closely resembling that of Eris; with Homer in particular representing the two as the same goddess. As goddess of war, Enyo is responsible for orchestrating the destruction of cities

Regardless of where your logic is taking you, I cannot count the number of times my boyz mobs have been reduced to >10 models and had the Boss Pole save me from fleeing. You only need to worry about half strength if you fail BOTH leadership tests.
For 5 points, it's totally worth it, no matter the size of the mob.
