There is another thread dealing with a similar issue, but I believe mine is far enough from the topic of it to warrant its own thread.
If there is a unit in a building (not a ruin) with no fire points, but it does have parapets, does a unit that fires from the parapets open themselves to being affected by template weaponry?
In other words, is a parapet counted as a fire point when being fired from?
I ask because I had a game on Thursday where a unit of Grey Knight Terminators and a Terminator Librarian were holed up inside a building with no fire points, and fired from the parapet, and I was wondering if my Warp Hunter could unleash some D-Cannon goodness on them. It was ruled as 'no' so I had to settle for blowing it up a turn later with Fire Dragons, but I would've liked to set a proverbial fire - or indeed warp rift - under the arses of the GKTs inside.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

It makes the vehicle count as open topped. Open topped vehicles have a firepoint - the hull.

Any models on the parapet can fire, think of it the same as an open-topped transport.
That's why if you have units on the parapet the building add +1 to damage results.
Since they still count as being in the building, they can be affected by template weapons. Any other weaponry would be directed against the building, not the occupants.

I have found again and again that in encounter actions, the day goes to the side that is the first to plaster its opponent with fire. The man who lies low and awaits developments usually comes off second best. - Erwin Rommel

Is a D-cannon even a template weapon? Thought it was a special blast

The term was probably an accidental throw-back to the good old days of "blast templates". I'm sure he means blast weapons.

No, I meant template weapons. The Warp Hunter has a template firing mode.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
