Been a painting my Warriors of Chaos up, now have 1500 points basecoated and getting it all slowly up to a decent standard.

So firstly, Khorne Exalted on a demonic steed with Axe of Khorne.. I am thinking this is almost done, if people can spot any problems I would greatly appreciate, going to try and get it photographed by GW for the website.

And a Tzeentch Sorcerer on a disc

And basecoated and subsequently broken (so probably will not be painted any more than necessary) a Warshrine:

Enjoy, some warriors coming in the coming week or so.

Nice classic Khorne colours. Can't help but think the Warshrine could use some riders however.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Think I might do, to be honest I am just really pissed off with it after its banner snapped off leaving a grey stump sticking out of the corpses.

Might throw a marauder on top of the juggernaught and have someone standing on the end of the cart, but its a lot of effort for a model that I have fallen out of love with very quickly, shame really. Its tabletop standard for now anyway so I'll prob leave it for a few months

As promised, some warriors, painted around a year ago, but finished and based today, still some final highlights to do on them when I can be bothered but definitely tabletop standard. First time using Army Painter's grass clumps as well, they are pretty amazing, but warning if you use them, still use some PVA, the adhesive on the bottom is not that great.

And a closeup of the command

And from the back, still room for another rank (I can hear my wife and wallet complaining already)

Next is the cheapest sorcerer ever, taken from the corpse cart sprue I used for the Warshrine, and painted to a matching low standard usually bunkers in the unit above using lore of shadows

And my next project is a 10x3 unit of GW marauders done nurgle, bought and made these last year but just getting around to painting them.

Was really inspired by the thoughts of a unit walking into a forest and coming out feral, mutated and diseased. So there are lots of beastmen parts, a pestigor command unit (god it cost me on ebay, but just love the champion smelling his armpit and that awesome banner) and a mutated tree as a unit filler.

First 10 guys and the tree are photographed, so another 16 to go after these, love priming brown though, its just so easy to paint on top off and gives a really dirty feel quickly, enjoy

Trees looking good. I did something similiar to the basic troopers with my Gor and soon I'll start using them interchangeably as Marauders.

I still suck at taking photographs, but will keep on trying, going on holiday tomorrow for the bank holiday weekend, so no more minis until Monday.

Bought some white (and black) backing cloth which I will try using a bit more next week to take all of my minis under better conditions.

So first off the bat is my Hellcannon (yes its a pyrovore, no I haven't really converted it, and yes its because I am too cheap to buy the real model), still have the crew to finish assembling and painting, which will comprise of one chaos warrior with the end of the chain in his hand and two dwarves of some variety. Its not completed quite yet, should polish it off on Monday, still have eyes and some highlights on the bone parts to be doing

Some more pics of some of my marauders, not a huge amount of progress on them today, just another 2 basecoats done on the lot of them and one highlight done on the green

Lol at the armpit sniffer

And some fresh pics of my mounted exalted

Thanks for looking, Happy Easter everyone

The metal models cost a total of like £30 off ebay, felt a little stupid, but just love those models so much. And lol at the fact that you are like the only one reading my blog

Those marauders are looking cool and I really like the exalted hero. You're going to have a great looking army when you're done.

Not a huge amount of time for painting today, have spent the whole morning at the Chester Food and Drink Festival. Some seriously nice food beer and cider later and I got to work, continuing the basics on my Nurgle Marauders.

They are getting near to table ready, everything is now painted, just need to highlight everything up properly and base them, which should be a nice easy job for tomorrow morning.

Then its back onto my other project: Barghesi Blog. So I will be having a break from my warriors for the rest of the Easter holidays, save some cleaning up and finishing off models.

Anyway here's some pics, decided to try some with a black background, which is better do you reckon?

Peace, Jim

Sent some pics to the Whats New Today team and they asked for more to put together a showcase for on the website, which is nice, so took some better pics of some warriors and my disc sorc (plus some more 40k added in at the bottom)

Nurgle Marauders aint been doing much today.. have like an hour left of painting time, might work on them now - COME ON JIM!! WORK!!

and the smoothest red blending I am ever going to do again, why is it always on the BACK of a model???

I think I am done with my first rank of marauders and will now be having a brief recess from painting my WoC.... or will I?

Small competition.. you might be able to spot a few words painted onto the banner, so far we have TB, VOMIT, WRITHE, PLAGUE and a nurgle symbol. First five replies gets to nominate a word, must be child friendly(ish) and short(ish) and shine light upon the great work of papa nurgle.

So command squad first:

Mr Fly Head (either use him as rank and file or as Festus as the need arises)

And 6 regular dudes

And the happy family Christmas card shot

That mounted Khorne Lord is just fantastic! Really lovely work.

The shrine with the Juggernaught is also really interesting. A great idea!

So a couple more pics of the 10 marauders done so far in a movement tray made for my Knights. Snow added to their bases and a little tidying up work done, especially on the flyhead where I noticed a load of details missing when posting his pics. Have left the crazy starey eyes

Second photo is to show the starting point for my Halberd warriors. I painted 10 warriors in lightning speed over a black undercoat utilising 4 kids I teach, getting the whole unit done in around 40 mins. I was lending a small part of my army to a pupil to play in the school league.

The paint job was awful, but enough of a rough basecoat done to enable me to do something good over the top.

I am currently painting up nine of them and once fully assembled will paint another 9 to make a unit of 18.

This is the bannerman (missing his banner, its in the post), check out the stinking terrible painting.. but 3 colours, no points were docked, mwahaha..

Stay tuned for an improved version (tomorrow maybe)

So been painting up my Khorne Warriors with Halberds today.. done a bit of a step by step for you to mix things up a bit.

Starting with the bannerman (who I am not painting up till his banner top arrives, but when I photographed was the only one as they all started). Remember the first stage was not painted by myself...

Next stage I reapplied some of the basecoats and washed it down a little (this is the new model that I will stick with throughout now)

Started some highlights and painted the bone on

More highlights (brown, extreme red) and basecoated the base

Final highlights on most areas, black hasnt shown up well here but I assure you its highlighted

Still have some work to do, overnight I will glaze the red cloak and wash over the armor before highlighting it up then pick out all the small detail work

Family shot tomorrow when its all done

First nine now done, and last day of the Easter hols, back to teaching Grots how to add up then, so maybe just an update per week from now on.

First off is the final comparison shot as above

Next is the group shot for the first 9 out of 18

And the next bunch of 9 about to get primed

Peace
