I was looking on the gdub website and noticed that tankbustas are in finecast in a 5 man box for $72 australian.

Good god, you're right. what did they cost before? Because yeesh, even in USD that's 45 bucks for six figures.

I guess I'd better get my butt in gear and get my Wraithguard before they become Finecast models for 20-25 bucks apiece, lol.

Does it include bombsquigs? The old metal one had 5 dudes, a nob and 2 squigs I think.

AU$72?

Not a hope in hell of me paying that for six figures... or in fact buying anything from GW here in Oz, due to the prices...

Thank God for eBay...

Considering the Ork boyz box comes with tankbusta bomms and a rokkit launcha, any respectable warboss should have the bitz for a decent mob of them anyway.

This makes me glad I play Necrons where I can make what I need out of the plastic kits or find it online instead of having to deal with Finecast.

Man, oh man....GW why? Just why do you make people not want to buy your products?

You could have a unit of 9 tacticals that are flipping off the enemy with both hands, they still have a bolt pistol and bolt gun.

It is a part of GW's secret plan to prevent the colonial scum from touching the glory of Warhammer products

Well...... build them yourself! I did, and I'm happy with my results!

But really, how long will it be till those 13 year olds with rich parents stop buying GW stuff?

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

If anything, Orks are easier to convert than any other army in the game for something like this. It's not a big deal if Tankbustas are in Finecast, metal, or solid gold, you can still make them from plastic easily.

It's fascinating how one of the tactically worst units in the game is conversely now one of the most expensive units to purchase.

Truly, Orks are the new Pariahs!

I just never liked the models, personally. Saw the finecast version a while ago, but same models, so I looked away.

I'm simply just building them from kits from Ork Boyz. Bomb Squigs, and two Tank Hammers, being the only issue.

Just wait till 6th ed. when the rules shifts and errata will make them the new MUST HAVE unit of the Ork army.

Mark my words...

Thats the thing with Orks. No matter what you do, an ork is an ork, just with a bigger/different gun.

Kommando? Ork.
Loota? Ork with a bigger gun.
Burna? Ork with a flamey gun.
etc.

Meganobz and nobz are about the only thing you really 'should' have a different model for, and even then, they are just slightly more advanced conversions.

A truly enterprising individual can make an entire ork army out of just the standard boyz!

Historically, this is probably a shrewd prediction. We shall see!

The price jump also hints at it.

Now: ZOMG those suck in game who would pay that price for a junk unit?

Soon: ZOMG those rule all, now I have to pay that price for that unit.

The real problem with this, as many others have mentioned, is rather than paying nearly $150 for 15 of these guys, any Ork player with literally no converting skill whatsoever can take a box of Ork boyz for $30 and add 2 inch sections of styrene tubing, drybrushed silver, and now they have rokkit launcher Tankbustas.

Wait, that's not a problem, that's awesome.

Thats the best part of it...so easy to convert, and since everything is so ramshackle, its hard for anyone to really say its wrong, close enough is good enough.
