I plan on running this list in a tornament coming up soon and wanted to see what others thought of it. I have only lost to spacewolves(with nothing but thunderwolf calvary) with this list and seem to do good against other competitive lists at 1500pts. In other guard lists I have always had a problem with close combat armies, but for some reason this list dosent have that same problem and also deals with ranged armies quite easily. Anyway, here is the list

HQ:

Company Command squad with 4 meltaguns, a basic company comander, and an Astropath.

Elites:

3x 5 man storm trooper squads: all with 2 meltaguns, and a sergant with a plasma pistol.

Troops:

3x 10 man Veteran squads all with the Demolitions upgrade, 3 meltaguns, sergant with plasma pistol, lascannon weapons team, and chimera with extra armor.

Fast Attack:

Valkyrie Assult Carrier with heavy bolter side sponsons, multilaser, and hellstrike missiles.

Heavy Support:

Leman Russ Executioner with plasma cannon sponsons and extra armor.

I also need a question answered. I normaly have the Command squad mounted in the Valkyrie in reserve and wanted to know if I still get the astropath's Telepathic relay ability even though he isn't on the table? I have been playing as though I dont, but I am currious as to weather I have been playing that right.

As always I am open to suggestions and ideas as to what you would change

The storm troopers are no where even near effective for the points. I would honestly drop them for vets (melta vets) in birds/ chimeras. Unfortunately since I have never used one, I cannot answer your question

I have tried full Vet lists and had trouble with assult armies....I agree that the pionts for Storm troopers is hight, but i can deepstrike them in front of my opponents advanceing army to slow them down or bait them into attacking the small 5 man squad. They also do a very nice job of killing tanks by shooting rear armor when needed.

There's an excessive amount of anti-armor in this list. I'm rather curious why you have a Las Cannon crew in your vet squads when they have melta guns AND melta bombs.

Do you face any heavy horde armies or gunlines, because you don't have alot of anti-horde capability or any decent-ranged weaponry to deal shooty Eldar or Tau.

I'd really suggest getting rid of the Las Cannons, plasma pistols, and the extra armor from the Chimeras and invest into maybe a Hellhound or two, maybe drop a couple Storm Troopers also.
