so this is a first try at a tournament style list and hope you like it
and sorry for any spelling errors

HQ:
libby-force dome, smite-100

Troops:

tac- missile, melta gun-175(razor back-las plas-75)
tac- missle, melta gun,-175(razorback-las plas-75)
5 scouts snipers-telion,-125
5 scout-missile-85

Elites:
termis- 1 heavy flamer- 205(land raider-250)
5 stern guard-2 combi meltas,power sword-150
dread-twin auto cannon-115

HS

2 thunder fire cannons-200
land raider-250


PUTS OUT!
-tacs for more antihorde and the missiles and meltas for some anti tank(same with the razor backs)
-the dread with autocannon for light armor and heavy troops while slowy moving up then taking heads and tying stuff up in combat(like a horde of boyz)
-thinderfire cannons for anti horde and to slow vehicles or even immobilize them if there in dangerous terrain
-the termis which could have chain fists for more anti tank and the powers fist just for powers hits on units
-the 2 land raiders with twin las for anti tank
-bolster defenses for the objectives and also have a safe place for me sniper scout till the marine and come in for back up
-idea for scout to infiltrate in on bolstered defense areas them marine come and camp out on obv. then split 5 in razor 5 stay and just shoot and shoot and shoot
-also the libby goes with the stern for the 5+ iv save
-this gives me 20 points to fiddle with

and i think the sterns will go into the raider(the 2nd one) im not sure or it could be a 14 block of doom

so that the updated list so far and i really appreciate the help on the list

You're gonna need transports!

Your army lacks the mobility needed in tournaments to go and hold or at least contest an objective, I would try to fit some rhinos and/or drop-pods. Lose the heavy weapons on the sterns and the HK missile on the LR and stick your sterns and Lysander in a pod.

I would also put the LR as the Termies' dedicated transport to be able to deploy them in it, unless you were planning on deep-striking them in which case I would lose Telion and invest in a teleporter homer and some camo-cloaks.

Your firepower is good, you could definitely set-up a nice gun-line in a reinforced ruin but you will need that mobility at the end of the game to go contest those objectives.

thx and i forgot to put on the two rhinos on the list there just simple and one has a dozer blade
and the hunter killer missile i can remove and then try to scram to gether eonugh point for a drop pod

Not necessary. Any squad may deploy in the landraider (if they fit of course). Were it a dedicated transport then only the squad that owned it could, but that's quite different.

Follow these two simple rules to ensure a happy Dakka experience:

Rule 1 - to be a proper 40K player you must cry whenever a new edition of the game is released, and always call opposing armies broken when you don't win.

Rule 2 - Games Workshop are always wrong and have been heading for bankrupcy within 5 years since the early 90s.

Every single unit needs a transport. The single Land Raider will have a big bullseye on it, at 2k points you should have two for target saturation.

There's other problems which need sorting two like the amount of Scouts, Tactical Squad weapons, amount of Sternguard, Terminators should be Assault Terminators and Thunderfires are a bit meh.

May I suggest dropping Lysander?
He is expensive and doesn't add much whereas combat tactics would be pretty useful.

You don't have to use his stubborn rule only if you want and the bolter drill is helpfull with hordes or just simply get a dice roll at a power unit
and if I did drop what would I replace it with any way please reply

Librarian with force dome would give the sternguard an inv. save, say.
Then the sternguard will not always shoot their bolters.
Then Lysander only increases the number of shots by a third.
Then when charged, it is better to fail, retreat, regroup and then shoot again, especially when they have combimeltas and it is important consideration given they are dropped in assault range of the enemy.

Not everything will be going for the Land Raider because not everything can hurt can it though more than likely every meltagun will be while things like missiles etc pick on transport vehicles. Also a 450 point combination of units isn't very good value for distraction.

Captain doesn't go with Sternguard. Sternguard are a shooting unit. In fact you shouldn't have a Captain, Captain is pretty rubbish. Take a Librarian instead.

If you are running lysander with the sternguard keep him. Thats a nasty combo, throw that into a land raider and go around drive by shooting people. The real only good thing i can say is that it looks like you need more troops. You only have 2 in a 2k game. That might hurt when it comes to objectives. You might want to drop some of the combi meltas and pick up some lascannons, You can run a 2 lascannon sternguard unit for 155 points or less, giving you some back line fire power. Marines are good at really one thing, and thats a gun line from hell. Just saying.

You don't need telion. Drop him and as hes overpriced. You can also get by with 5 scouts. 10 is just overkill, as these guys are your objective campers.

Normal termies just don't really cut it due to their lack of firepower and weapons. Go with TH/SS termies instead.

Your sternguard are solid. They will need a ride or a drop pod. You might also want to swap a power fist instead of a power weapon, as the fist gives you a bit more flexability.

Some people swear by thunder fire cannons, I think their OK. I would go with 1 of them and 2 predators. Even a bare bones predator is 60 points for an AC, which is cheap for an AV 13 vehicle.

You can move your LR to be a dedicated transport for your termies, so you can use those slots. This is good, as your heavy support slots are gold. As mentioned, even a bare bones predator is cheap and provides armor saturation.

In general, you need more armor for transports. You need to give your tacs and sternguard a ride. That ride might be a drop pod, but it should be something.

Lysander is not one of the standard Vanilla leaders to take. Most people take Shrike, Vulcan, or a bike captain. He seems expensive.

Assumptions:
-Combat squad the two tactical squads. Five can go into razorback and five can hang back on objectives and shoot. The pro is you get two high strength shots (ml and razorback) and expand your troop count for objectives (both combat squads can capture). This can be risky because just about anything can eat five marines. You dont have to combat squad for KP missions, saving 2 KP.
-Land speeder and sternguard are suicide units. The pro is you might get an alpha strike off with both. The con is they are fragile units that will likely not last very long.
-Bolster defense the scouts starting spot. 2+ cover save sounds pretty good to me (4+ for building, 3+ for cloaks, 2+ for bolster defenses)...
-Libby with troops, chappy with termies

You still have 25 points to play with on this build. It might be nice to give the HQs a gun or something, but it might be better giving the vindi ea and a hkm.

Finally, competitive lists will eat you alive. Vanilla marines get out shot by shooty armies and out assaulted by assaulty armies. This list appears to focus on shooting and attempting to outlast the opponent. I think you will need to play very well to beat average competition.

Paper is totally over powered! I can't believe how badly you guys screwed up. Why can't you make armies balanced, like Scissors? I quit!

How can you drive by shoot people in a Land Raider? It's not open topped. You need to get out to shoot.

You don't need a power weap with the melta unit. They are blowing up tanks, you don't want them engaged with infantry.

Scouts in the storm do not need the missile launcher. They cannot move and shoot it.

Missile launcher and power weap aren't much use on the Sternguard. Drop Pods counts as moving to when you come down you cannot fire the missile launcher. Plus it's a long range weapon. You don't want the power weap as Sternguard are a shooting unit, you don't want them in combat and if you do they will lose as only 5 of them. Take 5 combi meltas and nothing else.

The single units i.e Drop Pod, Land Raider, Dreadnought, Land Speeder and Vindicator will allow let you down. A decent player will beat you every single time due to target priority. Land Raiders should always come in pairs, especially at this points level. With a Drop Pod the first one will come down unsupported and basically etc etc with the other units.
