Hi, im looking for some input on what kind of speeder load out would be best for this army. I am thinking about using 3 MM/HF because of vulkan but my friend whom I will be battling the most uses deamons and DE so i would really like to have the long range ability of the ML/HB I would be losing the Vulkan rule but gaining a whole lotta shots at a good distance. I would also like to know whether or not you think i should keep vulkan or not. I really like the special rule but if its not buffing enough units to be worth I would rather take something more useful.
HQ Vulkan 190
HQ MotF 100
Troops Tac Squad 1 5 extra SM, melta,Lascannon, Combi Melta, Powerfist 220

Drop pods are for the Ironclads, I didn't take cc termies because I'm not using a landraider and they would have to walk it just didn't seem like a good use of points.

interesting questions here - you ask about speeder loadout and also if you should keep big V.
The second one first- I definetly don't feel your getting value for Vulkan here. From what I can see you currently have 4 heavy flamers and a few meltaguns that are getting the benefit from him, and thats not enough. You have a medium amount of firepower from autocannons, missiles and lascannons but obv Vulkan doesn't have anything to do with these. Also, one of the best reasons to take a MOTF is the conversion beamer, with his BS 5 and it being the strongest, longest range weapon in the marine codex stick him in a corner with a lascannon combat squad bunker. Is a major butt-pain for your opponent, particularly if its Spearhead deployment
If you want to benefit Vulkan I'd swap those terminators for hammernators definetly. If you don't want to use a land raider then swap the MOTF for a librarian and Gate them up the board first turn. Risky but not as risky as everyone thinks, plus its much cheaper than a LR. If they get shot and die then they've distracted a massive chunk of your opponent's force from the rest of your stuff, if they get shot and live then your opponents game is over by turn 4.
Ironclads in pods are awesome and you have the right kit out on them, but drop the assault launchers as this makes them unecesarily expensive, and get rid of your Ven dreads, and take regular MM/HF dreads in pod to pod tanks from a reasonable (12" ha!) range when they come in. This will save you a lot of points, and you might want to think of a suicide squad plus transport that puts the hurt on if you go first, like this:
Land Speeder Storm with Multimelta 65
5 man scout squad with 2 x shotgun guys, 2 x bolt pistol CCW, and sarge with combi-melta/PF 110
If you go first they turbo boost scout move, disembark and charge a tank, assaulting it on the rear armour hitting automatically (becuase your opponent hasn't moved) whilst your LSS shoots a nearby armoured nasty with the MM. Some people just like meltaboms on the scout sarge and it makes him cheaper but the fist gives me more chances as my dice rolls suck (hence Vulkan!)

2 10 men Tactical Squads are definitely not going to cut it for troops in 2.5k it'll be far too easy to torrent them to death.
If you're taking tactical terminators I would reccomend the cyclone over the heavy flamer as it means you'll actually get to shoot them at something (unless they're deep-striking), also maybe throw in a chainfist or two.
You also need more drop pods, having only 2 means you're going to drop one ironclad in first turn due to drop pod assault (which will be melta'd/destroyed fairly swiftly I imagine), with the other one hanging around in reserve. Running 3 MM/HF dreadnoughts in drop-pods would probably be much more reliable. You could take a locator beacon on one (or more) of the pods and deep strike the terminators (meaning you could take assault terminators because they will be in your opponents face.
I also think riflemen ven dreads aren't worth it, due to the autocannons being twin-linked you should be getting 3/4 hits a turn anyway.
I think my core would probably be something like this,
Vulkan 190
MotF 100
Tac (combi-melta, melta, multi-melta) + rhino 220
Tac (combi-melta, melta, multi-melta) + rhino 220
Tac (combi-melta, melta, multi-melta) + rhino 220
Assault Terminators (7) 280
Dread MM/HF + drop pod (locator beacon) 175
Dread MM/HF + drop pod 150
Dread MM/HF + drop pod 150
Rifleman 125
Rifleman 125
Typhoon 90
Typhoon 90
Typhoon 90
Total 2225
Swap in flamers for meltas as you want. Vulcan & MotF need a ride though so you could go for full drop pods (and maybe another locator beacon or two) and some MM/HF speeders to deep-strike them for a very in your face list.
Vulkan 190
MotF 100
Tac (PF, combi-flamer, flamer, multi-melta) + drop pod 240
Tac (PF, combi-melta, melta, multi-melta) + drop pod 245
Tac (Lightning Claw, combi-melta, melta, multi-melta) + drop pod 235
Assault Terminators (6) 240
Dread MM/HF + drop pod (locator beacon) 175
Dread MM/HF + drop pod (locator beacon) 175
Dread MM/HF + drop pod 150
Rifleman 125
Rifleman 125
2 Typhoons 180
2 Typhoons 180
2 MM/HF Speeder 140
Total 2490
Just my thoughts.

Thank you guys so much for the input. Unfortunetly the Wife Lord of Terra has me on a budget so the hammernators will have to wait a paycheck or two or until she forgets that i just bought more models.
i have made some of the prescribed adjustments and I am pretty happy with it so far. eventually the tac termies will be replaced but here is what i will have until then.

changes look positive. I never really bother with locator beacons on pods but give you some flexibility and accuracy with the land speeders for deep striking them. I don't know if i'd take three beacons though
I suppose 10 tactical termies are still gonna be a bit of a nightmare for many folks to get rid of. When you can swap them for hammernators I would do so, but for the time being they can advance and support with the razors.
If i were you i'd swap the combi-weapon on the tactical squad witht the flamer to a combi-flamer instead of melta and stick Vulkan with them. This is a suprisingly effective unit on the charge, what with Vulkans twin-linked HF template then two twin-linked flamer templates followed by V's attacks then finished by the sarge's PF. I use it all the time and regularly kill whole units of terminators with it due to number of saves. Whilst the combat squad with ML hangs back in a 3+ with the MOTF blasting transports or troops.

Thanks for the tips I think i will probably do that and i might even swap out that squads missile launcher for a multi melta since they will be getting up close and personal and Vulkan will have 10 woounds lol. and there will still be 2 combat squads with MLs with the MotF. anyway at least the list is mostly figured out thanks for all the help.
