Wouldn't it be cool if the Firehawks were seduced by Malal, and subsequently became Legion of the Damned. He hates Chao's as do they. I know the Legion fight everyone not just chaos but isn't that a nice twist?

Malal is from 1st editon WHFB, and died in WHFB 1st editon. 40k will never get Malal, nor will Fantasy. It's a very stupid idea from the 70's, nothing more.

Couldn't agree more. GW should pay off whoever it has to pay off and bring Malal back.

Speaking as somebody who's been with the hobby sufficiently long to remember him, I'm thoroughly sick and tired of hearing people witter on about Malal.

Malal was, to be brutally honest, lame and irrelevant for the duration of his brief presence in the fluff. Quite frankly, his obscurity is the only interesting thing about him.

But by that token so were Squats and all the little bits that have been lost, it all added to the character.

Malal is dead and gone, Now there's Malice, a minor chaos god who does the same stuff as Malal, represents pretty much the exact same thing as Malal, but for all intents and purposes, is NOT Malal. So let go and say adieu to Malal, it's time for Malice and the Sons of Malice (you know, the guys who are canon).

As it happens, I look upon the interminable Squat nostalgia in much the same way I look upon that for Malal.

Squats were around longer than Malal, IIRC. Plus, all the Squat love (or Squat spank, whatever you choose to call it) keeps GW from eliminating any other races in 40K. Dark Eldar, Tau, and Necron players should thank those annoying fanboy jack@$$es who pester GW with questions about when the Squats are coming back, because it keeps GW from dropping another army. Who wants to hear from pissed off Squat AND Tau players at every Games Day?

Honestly I think that the idea of the Squats were very cool, the name was definitely something left to be desired. The idea of Malal was cool, sort of an anarchist Chaos god, however of course there was so little info, it's hard to like/dislike him, though I can see how you would get tired of him.

I Like the more obscure fluff and tend to use it when creating my armies as it gives them far more uniqueness and gives me room to create and expand on it whilst technically still being canon.

Yeah it's not fan boyism (is that even a word) that's just a convient tag that people use to try and take the moral high ground, which is all well and good till they realise the internet is as flat as Holland.

I like the old stuff, because it takes me back. I find the constant re-invention of everything a bit annoying, you get the story and then the Canon gets re-written.

Imagine if Tolkien had done this (or worse gone back and jazzed it up like George Lucas with his SW constant tweaks and releases) no one would have enjoyed the story any where near as much.
