Subject: What is worse in your mind, Day 1 DLC or On Disk (but later date) DLC?

As I mindlessly followed capcom while playing SFxT and thinking "oh the DLC chars are coming up, better go grab them", I started to wonder what do you think is more detrimental to the community/company to customer relations. On one hand you have DLC that gets released when the game is released (somewhat justified that a game has to be Gold for a few weeks, which may be a timeframe to finish up a side project). On the other hand you have some DLC already on game disks, just that they're locked and sometimes they wont get released for a long while (somewhat justified that perhaps said content is not fixed or balanced to the current system and needs tweaking)
Thoughts on the matter? And no if you're wondering this is not a "Hate all DLC topic"

If its available at launch it should be on the disk. If its on the disk I should have access to it on launch day and without additional fees.
That is all

If it's something like Shale for DA: O, by all means, keep it D1 DLC. You know, it's nothing but an additional side character with nothing to do with the plot. Also, people got her free just for buying the game New, which isn't all that bad.
Same with On Disk DLC; if it comes free with a New Purchase, it's all good.
Anything other than that, and I don't like it.

I hate both equally. How about Day 30 DLC that you actually have to download and is not already on the disk?

I do not like the idea of on disk DLC. If its on the disk how is it DLC, and why am I paying for it? It's just a scam really.

An echo of my thoughts to be sure.
Also, a close third in terms of something companies do that make me not want to support them is remakes. As in remakes made in the same year. Why buy a capcom game when they'll make another version within a year with 6 new characters, new modes, and a bunch more stuff? I loved MVC2, but I don't want to buy 3 because as soon as I do they'll release MVC3 x turbo budakai platinum diamond edition.

Sure, but you only get access to it if you bought it new. If you bought it used, you have to pay extra for it. Also? You seem to forget that, especially for console games, there is a good amount of time between submitting it for certification and the game's actual release. Do you want them to simply be idle and produce nothing for the game, or do you want extra content produced during this time? Lord Scythican wrote:I hate both equally. Problem is that day 30 DLC isn't bought as much as day 1 DLC. When actually using their money to vote, customers want day 1 DLC more than they want day 30 DLC

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

We both know we disagree on the nature of the online pass but maybe its best we not rehash the same talking points for the billionth time

The time is functionally miniscule (Especially for BIoware games where they'd need to do a lot more time consuming work to prepare new quests and characters, for voice acting if nothing else). I can respect maybe they want to do some work, but then that content should be a free bonus to players not an additional charge on launch day. Especially since all the cases of D1DLC I know of have turned out to have NOT been developed in this time period I'm less sympathetic. If nothing else a publisher/developer can afford to sit back kick some ice tea and pretend they're not trying to rip us off. When a developer/publisher can't produce a quality product I don't want them spitting in my face and asking for $10 more. Even when they make good games, especially EA, they somehow manage to release them bug ridden.
In ME3 for example there is an ongoing multiplayer problem where players are randomly and for no reason thrown off the EA servers because the games net code is downright horrible for PC. Bioware's response? Ban the people who bring it up on their forums (one of my friends really was temp banned for so much as mentioning it) and not fix it or address community concerns in the slightest. And that's just one of the numerous reported bugs in the game that have gone unfixed for a month.
If I felt like customer service and the product were strong, maybe my opinion would change, but when they can't deliver the who most basic services and then ask for more money its a insult in my book.
Melissa wrote:When actually using their money to vote, customers want day 1 DLC more than they want day 30 DLC
This beith true. The sole reason EA, or any other publisher for that matter, does it is because they know people will buy it. They treat their customers like idiots with deep pockets because frankly, their customers act like idiots with deep pockets. They moan and they whine and then they buy it anyway.
