Battle Missions Dark Eldar Scenario: Feigned Retreat

Battle:
Archon Sorien Gomaeth surveyed the ruined city in the plains before him. The Tau he had been tracking was last spotted fleeing through this village and he would gladly take back them to Commorragh for a little snack. This was his second campaign leading raids on this puny planet yet the Tau were defending their cities better, more so than he had anticipated, in recent months. Sorien sent one of his Warriors squads to investigate the ruins and report back what they found so he could properly attack the Tau and cut them off. They had just reported back that the ruins are empty of any occupants and have been for all time, and were on their way back to regroup with the rest of the raiding party.

When the Warriors were within a dozen kilometers several warp rifts opened up spewing out a couple of Nurgle Daemons and some Pink Horrors who proceeded to tear apart the flimsy raider and decimate the squad inside leaving a few remaining survivors of the squad embarked on it. Sorien couldn't help but utter profanities at the run of bad luck he had been faced with this raid. The warriors deaths were anything but pleasurable to him their essence snuffed out like a candle. He needed to act fast if he were to save his remaining warriors and protect his "feeding" grounds on this planet. He ordered his other Warrior squad and Scourges into protect and rescue the remaining survivors. As they approached the Raider and Scourges managed to bring down one of the Nurgle Daemons with a whistling hail of Splinters rounds. The other prince ran over to his Daemon brethren seeing his corporeal body explode into a cloud of flies disappearing into thin air. The Daemon then enacted vengeance on the survivors hiding in the wreckage of the Raider slaughtering everyone. Within in seconds a Razorwing jet fighter screamed over the battlefield bringing down the second Daemon prince clearing the immediate area for defense and an extraction point from real space and back to Commorragh.

Sorien's triumph was short lived as more Pink horrors warped in front of his forces and a Herald of Tzeentch flanked his leftmost Raider. As the Razorwing banked for another strafing run the Horrors managed to shoot of it's splinter cannon and it's forward thrusters forcing it to hover hopelessly in one direction but not before it managed to make reduce two groups of Horrors to one man each. Seeing how fast this battle could turn, Sorien commanded his Venom's pilot forward in the battle to assist his forces. Arriving shortly after the Herald demolished his last Raider, Sorien's Trueborn guards and Venom blasted apart the herald and received loud "BANGARANG!" from the Warrior squad saved.

Seeing that the Horrors were reduced in number the Scourges moved in for to kill off the stragglers only to be sent flying as one of the Horrors ripped apart one of their kin. Their flight was short lived as they mustered their strength and fired upon the Horrors sending them back to the warp. With victory at hand, Sorien surveyed the carnage realizing how lucky he had been to survive the Horrors of the Warp.

Result: Dark Eldar Total Victory

Summary:
This is the very first time I have tabled anyone and it was somewhat of a bittersweet victory and Tzeentch had given my friends dice the F-you upgrade. He couldn't wound anything for the last 4 rounds of the game besides wrecking the second Raider and wounding my Razorwing. Tzeentch even decided to give us both amusement seeing his Pink horrors winning close combat with my Scourges as they failed to wound any Horrors themselves. Then the dice looked on my favor as my second fall back roll was trip 1's.

A similar dice fail on my part happened when I failed to wound another horror with 12 splinter cannon shots and the multi-assault the two remaining Horrors seeing my Archon whiff bad with all his attacks. Luckily the Trueborns were able to mop up what my Sorien failed on the bottom assault of turn 6.

Wound or HIT anything, nothing like failing to hit with four shots at bs 4, 2 shooting phases in a row ;D Or with 4 bolts at bs 3 for 3 turns.... GREAT game tho another first to add to the books, 3 turns of no damage caused XD

Hence the Bittersweet victory. Normally out battles are dragged out slugfests with victory determined by the last players turn.

Kind of curious but I haven't really played much with my daemons vs DE all mech'ed up cept in one game and I almost got wiped out myself but how often do you guys make an actual game of it since it sounds like you guys play pretty often. DE or daemons win more between you guys?

DE are a horrible nightmare matchup imo for Daemons. I think they are worse than GK on aggregate.

This was my first time playing with my Dark Eldar against him. Our lists were about even Its usually Eldar, Chaos Marines, Space Wolves vs my Tau. More often than not he wins, he knows Tau way too well lol.
