Well im getting a vindicator and from my last rhino things didnt go well. I dont have a spray primer (and i dont want to buy) but i have some chaos black so how can i prime it without having the paint sloppy looking/not coating well (when i thin it like 1 to 1).
Any tips?

But spray primer is really cheap, if you know where to look. Don't buy GW ones. EVER. They suck.

Go to Ace Hardware (or any hardware, really. But Ace has the tendency to be present in any big mall, like SM and Ayala Malls), and head straight for the spray paint section. Look for RJ London or Bosny brands, they have good spray primers I have tried and tested. Most colors are not primers, but the ones labeled Flat Black/Dull Black, Primer Grey and Primer Red are. Primer Grey works best when you have a light-colored army scheme, whilePrimer Red is good for, well, red armies.

At Ace the price would be around Php 140-180 (I forgot since I buy in bulk). At small hardware stores you can get them for Php 100 or less, and provided you live in the NCR region, you can grab some in Divisoria for Php 80.

Then follow every advice they tell you about how to apply spray primers. We're in a tropical country and it rains all the dang time, so make sure to spray prime when it's noon and sunny.

Use a grey primer if you are going to do a metallic paint and want a clean look.

Black Primer works good for metallics too, but you will have to use a few layers as brush strokes stand out more on the black. The vehicle will have a much darker/dirtier look too.

Grey on the other hand comes out nice and shiny new looking.

White primer is good if you are going to paint your vehicles in different colors. Darker primer will wash out the color requiring many, many coats to get bright again.

Maybe you could buy an airbrush?

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

Used to play at the Bunker before it closed. I sometimes drop by at NG Glorietta and E-Ton (but really, really rarely) but I buy minis usually in G4. Nowadays I mostly just paint--I still have almost my whole army to paint + two commissioned armies.

I might play there more often when I get accepted to the new job I applied for somewhere near G4.

And yeah, as a rule never buy any GW products that are not minis/templates/terrain. Their PVA glue is overpriced: you can buy Elmer's Glue at Natio or if you really want cheap, buy Shellwood Glue (they sell it in like half-gallon containers for Php 100 something). Brush-on varnish can be bought at National Bookstore again (Semco and MyArt brush-on varnishes come in both matte and gloss, and are both Php 69). Greenstuff you can buy at Deovir. Their brushes can be purchased at again, National Bookstore or Joli's Art Supply store (or Deovir in SM North) for really, really cheap. I have used a small Chinese brush from Natio that cost me Php 16-18 for most of my freehand work:

Spoiler:

Now I use the 00 sable brush I bought at Joli's (located near UST at P. Noval street) and it costs Php 36.

You can even buy Vallejo Model Color, Vallejo Game Color and Water effects (as well as plenty of terrain stuff) at [urlhttp://www.deovirarts.com/=]Deovir[/url], as well as airbrushes. Remember: everything is cheaper in the Philippines. You have these stores for friends: Ace hardware, National Bookstore, Deovir Art Supplies and Joli's Art Supply. everytime you visit Glorietta, try dropping by on Natio or Ace and look at stuff you can use for your hobby.

So to emphasize my point: never buy GW tools. Most of the time they're of inferior quality than the ones you can buy for cheap.

I've got this post on my blog that has a few tips for painting vehicles without an airbrush: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2012/01/7-tips-for-painting-vehicles-without.html
As far as not wanting to spray prime, it's certainly doable if you're careful.
If you're worried about priming, I have afew articles that might ease some concerns as well: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/search/label/prime

When people ask me, "How do you build your army?"
I tell them its "The ten-zero factor, coolness ten, combat effectiveness... zero."

Deovir has a branch in.... Recto. So that's still far. For your basic needs, National and Ace would more than suffice. I only go to Deovir or Joli's if I need special items like resin for resin casting, water effects, greenstuff, sculpting stuff and the likes.

I believe there's also a good hardware store in Park Square. SM Makati also has a nice selection of fake plants on their department store if you need them for terrain or basing.

Back to the topic... spray prime your minis all the way! Paint would stick better to it, the paint job will be less likely to chip and it is less tedious than applying primer by hand.

Do you think National sells dice and how many? (the gw ones are too expensive)

Yeah i just recently learned about all the new cheap primers i can use that come from home depot. Get like krylon and testors. Just remember to read everything on the can and make sure you have a test model so you can work out the kinks and not melt your army.

Yes they do. But it depends on the National Bookstore: some Nationals have toy sections, others don't. Usually at Christmas time I pick up dice from them. Also check out Toy Kingdom, Toy World, Toy Land and every store with the word "toy" in it, especially ones with cheap plastic toys from China. They will usually have dice and/or really cheap conversion parts. I usually drop by on Toy Kingdom to see what toys they have and think "How would they look up when chopped up?" See the dreadnoughts in my gallery for examples of conversions using cheap plastic toys.

And again, Divisoria has everything: it's the Philippine version of Diagon Alley. You can find dice there and buy a buttload for really, really cheap.
