So, after having played a few games with my Yu-Jing force, the Nomads bug bit me. I grabbed a few, slapped them together, painted them up, and here's what I have. Well, almost- I haven't purchased the Clockmaker yet.

I really want to run a force with a TAG, so any help you all could offer would really be appreciated. The only real provisos are that I don't want to buy a whole new force, so please keep in mind that I'm poor and can't afford to totally rewrite my list. Also, I just have to keep the TAG. It's the centerpiece of the army and I don't want to just toss him out.

Should I lose the Sniper Rifle in favor of two more orders (swap her for two more basic Alguacils)? Buying one or two more minis wouldn't be out of the question. Please help!

Glaring change right off the bat would be to swap the Lt from the Mobile Brigada to the Interventor. Yes, the Interventor is a lot more squishee but it will free up your MB to be used offensivel without hte worry of losing your Lt.

The sniper is a tough call. If you drop it you are goign to be rather short on heavy hitters, however I think the 2 orders will help you more in the long run. The other option is to drop the Morias as I have never really been impressed with their performance v cost.

I would also highly suggest picking up a pack of Zondbots for your Clockmaker. He's bee in serious danger trying to backup your Szally as it moves up the field.

Option A:
- Drop MSR
- Add 2 Alquaciles
- Add Zondbot

Option B
- Drop Morias
- Add 1 Alguacile
- Add 1 Securitate
- Add 2 Zondbots

Alguacil sniper out of the link team in my opinion is somewhat lackluster. I think that Moira with her odd would make a better use of a special weapon. I would personally go for HMG but since you already have sniper rifle you could do a weapon swap with minimum of modelling needed.
But then again with HMG Moira you would have points left for one more alguacil. So you eat a cake and have it. You even have spare points for a zondbot for engineer (in my opinion a definite must in this list if you plan to take clockmaker as he will have problems keeping up with Szally and might get shot in the proces).

So in my opinion - get a HMG Moira or if you are even lighlty proficient with greenstuff make her look like she has one. The weapons look very similar in this game anyway.

And you still have 14 points 0.5 swc left. Evo reapeter? Moderator with marker or light grenade launcher? Or maybe Daktari? Your choice, but bottom line is with such a setup you would have 9 orders and two heavy hitters (szally and hmg brigada). And it would use almost all of the minis you already have. You could aslo use securitate as Lt since thanks to SS2 he would be harder to assassinate than Intreventor.

Okay, I've decided to bow to Blue Dagger's experience and drop the Reverend Moira. It's a shame she's not as good as her cost suggests, every Infinity force needs a little cheesecake! (^_^)

Thanks for the help you two. As much as I'd like to add a HMG to the army, I'm thinking I'm going to have to go with relying on the Hyper-Magnetic Cannon to do my heavy lifting. After all, isn't that why you bring TAGs in the first place?

I'm keeping the sniper mainly because I want someone to cover lanes of advance that will make people think twice about sticking their heads out. Plus, she's fairly cheap so it really doesn't matter so much if someone puts her down. The order for Zondbots and a Clockmaker is going out in a day or two, thanks for the help in keeping my purchase cheap.

If you really want to have a cheap sniper how would you feel about securitate? He has higher BS and sixth sense (helping him not to get camo-fragged). If you take the dude anyway... And since afaik securitate MSR mini has not been realesed yet, you can just say "this securitate has sniper rifle" and it's even tournament legal. No need for a weapon swap, no need to buy more minis.

You also save 4 points to maybe make one alguacil paramadic, or FO with deploayable reapter.

Having said that I have no faith in securitate MSR either. 12 bs without any mimetism, camo, link team bonuses or such vs any troop that can easily have same bs and 2 more burst? That sniper is going down rather quick, unless he is lucky.
To put this into perspective, when confronted by an agluacil with hmg (who is cheaper than him in both points and swc) your sniper has only 30% chance not to die, and only 10% to wound the attacker:

If confronted by anything that is actually more expensive than him (camo attack or elite with hmg, etc.) his chances drop proportionally.
By the way, the link above is a very useful application to determine how useful are things in infinity exactly (turns out that DEP is not very useful 95% of the time)


Good news is that nomads happen to be the faction with one of the best defenders in game - Sin-Eater. With mimetism, bs 13, arm 3 and full burst on reactive turn (!) as well as a selection of deadly weapons sin eater is simply a rock, the only thing the guy lacks is courage, but he makes it up with religious. The best of them (HMG) would cost you only 10 points and 0.5 swc more than alguacil sniper. And it is probably the ultimate way of saying "This fireline? IT BELONGS TO ME." The mini is kick-ass too.

It's got a Sin-Eater HMG (13 BS is pretty sweet, I'll admit) and dumps the Sniper Rifle altogether. I thought about having the Sin-Eater as my sniper, but then I'd have to drop a Zondbot, and I'm not sure if that would be a good idea as aggressive as this force looks on paper. What do you think? is the backup Zondbot worth more than the zone control the MULTI Sniper Rifle gives me? Is the sheer volume of fire the HMG plus the Hyper-Magnetic Cannon puts out enough to pin down the enemy? I'm looking for a good, tournament-capable force, despite being on a budget and insisting on the TAG. I realize Infinity is more about tactics than army construction, but having a coherent group doesn't hurt, eh?

Personally yes, I like it. You have a very strong offensive piece (szally) a tough backup offense/defense (MB) and superior defender (sin eater), while still having support (clock, interventor) and decent orders.

I wouldn't go for sniper sin-eater, even if you could keep a zondbot. The main advantage of sin eater is that he gets full burst in aro (while having B:1 in active) you want to take advantage of that. B:4 in reactive turn gives you a lot more "zone control" than +6'' on sniper rifle range, as it will be very hard for anyone but the most elite troops to reliably hit sin-eater when they face four dice (hmg) in a FtF roll instead of two (MSR). Anything has to think twice before they attack that.
The only real advantage of sniper rifle is that it would make sin-eater slightly less useless on the active turn (as he could fire B:1 integrated ammo shots instead of B:1 normal with hmg), but you already have szally and mobile brigada - I don't think you need another attacker.

This list will be a whole lot nastier in the long run. The only vulnerability that stands out is a weakness to smoke tricks, but that is part of the learning process on how to deal with various threats.

I'm really not very informed when it comes to list building but i got a lot of help when i was making my Nomad list and it bares some resemblance to yours, maybe it'd be worth looking at to give you ideas/inspiration?
