I havent used these yet in my army but i am now increasing my points and wanted to include them. I have a few questions. Firstly their weapons: do each unit in the squad have a markelight? if so a squad of 6 can fire 6 markerlights? Secondly normally if you fire a markerlight you cant shoot your weapon is this the case with them? Finally am i right in thinking they cant benefit from their own markerlight?

Thank you in advance

Yes to Questions 1 and 2, But Pathfinders don't have a networked markerlight and hence cannot benefit from their own markerlight

Hope this Helps!

Wait, they can fire both? I thought you needed a battle suit wargear for that (think it's called target tracker)?

I was answering yes that is the case to that question (ie yes you cannot fire your weapon if you fire the markerlight)

You may fire either markerlights or pulse carbines when using pathfinders. If you have networked markerlights, you could assist the unit when firing any weapon except markerlights, due to the fact that markerlights cannot benifit from markerlights.

If you move, you CANNOT fire the markerlights (as they are HEAVY weapons and Tau pathfinders are NOT relentless).

If you are stationary, you may fire either of them (not both).
If you have moved, you may only fire the pulse carbine (if you wish to shoot with ANY weapon) - or you may run.

Great thanks for all the advice guys! Think im gonna try them out! If they disembar from a transport im guesing that means they cant shoot them? but having 8 markerlights on one unit could be very nice indeed!!

Markerlights have to be stationary (or on relentless platforms) in order to be 'fired'. Embarking/disembarking also stops "Heavy"weapons being fired.

You have to have them in position to use them - if you need to move them to x to get better shots, then they won't be fired that turn.

I believe they have standard markerlights. The Devilfish has a networked marker lights.

I love pathfinders. Rail rifles tear up exposed MEQs and you can reduce their cover save with additional markerlights.

yes they are standard and not networked marker lights so the pathfinder team CANNOT benefit from its own marker lights.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
also the devilfish do not and are not capable of taking markerlights

Or, buy some FWs, equip them with carbines, glue the pulse rifle gun barrels on top and you've really cheap PFs ... and your silly tetras can stay on their 64 bit video cards!

... you know, terus on an old system ...
Sorry.

Seriously, ATO, don't buy the PFs from the blister packs. I had left over FWs and they were an easy conversion for that gun barrel bit on top (simulates the ML, I guess).

I have a pic somewhere (goes of to look).

I wouldn't buy Tetras now because there is a good chance that GW will do them in Polystyrene this year.
