So I'm new to DE, and had a quick question when it comes to DE and how to move pain tokens around.

The codex states that when joined by an independent character, all pain tokens are shared. So If the IC had two tokens, and the squad of wyches had 1, then together they have 3 and get a complete bonus. Furthermore, when the unit seperates, I can redistribute the tokens however I want (but as evenly as possible). So I can, in a later turn, split off the IC and give him one token, and leave the wyches with two.

The question I have is when it comes to transports. Can I put an IC with a pain token in a transport with a squad without a pain token, and then disembark only the squad and let them have the pain token?

Also, that first pain token gives the squad FNP. Since they only have a 6+ armor save, if they don't get to roll for their armor save (but other models in the 40k world would get an armor save) do they still get their FNP roll?

Many thanks for clarification.

Yes, you can. This is a common tactic with Wyches and a Haemonculus. Since there is only 1 pain token, you can choose where it goes.

Yes, they still get their FNP roll. There are certain weapons that negate FNP, such as power weapons, and weapons that are double the models toughness. Other than that, they always get a FNP roll if they have a pain token.

Yup! Common tactic...

FNP is only denied from power weapons, AP1/AP2 and instant death causing wound.

The "Breath of Chaos" from the Chaos Daemons codex is one such example. It doesn't explicitly have an AP value, but is stated to ignore armor saves. FNP would not apply in such a case.

Glad to see you're enjoying your new codex. It's a fun one!

I'm loving everything about the DE. They're sneaky, require clever playing styles and dirty tricks, and revel in the glory of an unfair fight. They're simply brilliant.

Thanks for all the clarification ladies and gents!

A quote borrowed form the Justicar.

'If they get to hit back, you're doing something wrong...'

DE are awesomesauce, when the dice are with you and the opponent makes a mistake/you have a cunning plan...
