I use and prefer a more Kabal based army. I like the overall versatility of the dark eldar and how much you can mix and match, but i think i prefer a more speed (run and gun) based army. any thoughts or preferences on your own army? Always eager to hear about armies and what works for them. I am also a HUGE fan of the talos. My talos has wrecked many armies for my Kabal of the Red Mist.

I love running a Webway Portal list. I started with a raider style, but I have done much better with my WWP wych cult list. Once I've played against someone, I can heard them, simply because they are afraid of getting assaulted straight from reserve. The sucky part is if there happens to be a sneaky necron player who just surrounds them with Wraiths.

Yeah if you love your Talos then a WWP list might be the way to go. With the speed and maneuvarability of our transports the Talos can easily be left dragging it's heels(?) behind the rest of your force and can be easy pickings if it has to trudge across the board. If you run a WWP list it is probably worth taking 2 Talos as HS so you can have double the fun with your fave unit. They will wreck almost anything coming out of the portal and can pick and choose where, when and who to fight.

I will have to try that out. I have read about them but have been skiddish. It might work well for my Incubi unit as well, they always seem to get targeted early in their venom

Yeah conversions are the way to go with grotesques...60 dollars to run a single bare bones squad does not appeal to me at all

I can't remeber where I saw them but somebody used WH Fantasy models, one of the chaos, and dark eldar bits for proxy grotesques and I thought it really worked well. Also, what is the best WWP tactic to ensure that you don't get massive casualties?

Placement is key. Close enough that you will be able to assault quickly after coming in from reserves, but not so close that your opponent can simply surround it and prevent anything coming out due to minimum distance requirements with enemy units. If you have second turn, beware of massive amounts of anti tank killing your wwp transports before they can move into position.

A lot of people here have used WHFB Ogre models and converted them to make pretty impressive Grotesque models.

If you decide to take the same route then ebay sometimes has leftover cronos parts as most people use the kit to make a talos. Kitbashing these can have some pretty impressive results for a considerable saving on buying a unit of the actual Grotesque models.

I, and many other people, used Rat Ogres from the island of blood as they are dirt cheap on ebay. I made 8 and I think I payed $30 and a lot of bits from my bitbox(need a talos).

When I first started my dark eldar army fate actually picked for me. I purchased the reavers first because I like their look. The next step was I decided to purchase a pack of wyches directly from games workshop but when it arrived and I opened the box to my surprise was the sprues for the kabalite warriors. GW was nice enough to send me out the wych sprues but like I said , fate decided I would have a kabal on the battlefield

I use a webway assult list with lots of wyches and the only big problem I have run into is blob armies surrounding the webway, in which case you cannt deploy from it.
