Good evening, everybody.
so what should have been an BA-Tau vs IG- GK game turns out to be a one on one tomorrow night between me and the GK

My army:

HQ: Recclusiarch with jp
155 points

elite: 2 sanguinary priests with jp
150 points

troops:
assault squad with jp, 2 flamer, sarge with pf and meltabombs
230 points


assault squad with jp, 2 meltaguns, sarge with pf and meltabombs

assault squad with jp, 2 meltaguns, sarge with pw

Seriously, I don't know much about BA, but that GK list is not what you would consider competitive.

Yeah, that GK list is not the best. Pretty suckish to be honest. No optimization at all.

Just remember that your FnP will be useless in CC as every GK has a Force Weapon. it will only come into play against his shooting.


You should look to gang up on one unit of his at a time. One on one, his units will destroy yours. but if you send say 2 units of assault marines against one of his squads you should have an advantage.

Is your list fixed?
What mission are you playing or is it random?

The general advice I would give is try some sort of guerilla warfare. Gang up on small parts of his army as you DoA, take it out then run away and start again.

Ok - Drop the fists from the sergeants in favor of power weapons (since you have meltabombs for vehicles) Or drop the meltabombs (since you have s8 fists) -- having both is redundant.

Swap the Reclusiarch for a Librarian. it's 30p cheaper and without death company you won't see the full value of the Reclusiarch anyway. Take Fear darkness (since he's not running purifiers) and unleash rage. Other powers are good too, like sanguine sword or shield of sanguinius, so basically take what you feel will help you best.

Strike squads have power weapons and possibly halberds for faster initiative, but if you manage to get the charge they'll only have 1A each. You'll kill him by swamping the table with dice throws. BA are blessed with on foot mobility, so use that to your advantage to dance around the table and take on units one at a time, on your own terms.

Storm ravens are immune to the extra d6 from melta, but not the AP1 so blast a couple of meltaguns at it when it's within 12" and hope for the best. Same goes for his terminator squad - deep strike within 7" using DoA and meltagun/bolt pistol the unit since they don't have storm shields. Unless they're in the raven, of course.

Basically without knowing your opponent, their playstyle, etc, those are just some generic bits of advice. the biggest one warrants repeating however - you are faster and more mobile, only engage units you can wipe out one or two at a time. Focus fire/Focus assault and you will end up on top. you should outnumber him, GK's are some of the most expensive marines (barring death company).

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Yeah, don't take power fists and melta bombs. They do the exact same job. If you drop both the melta bombs, you can afford a power fist on your 3rd squad. That is of course, if you're not totally fixed in your list due to what models you own, or whatever. A librarian would also probably help more, as TP said.

I wouldn't DoA with his strike squads on the table. Their warp quake can make it really freaking dangerous. Use them as a jumper list, going from cover to cover to get to grips with them. Use your superior mobility to focus on one target at a time, but don't pile all your guys in at once. That'll just lead to you wiping him in one combat phase, and then getting shot up on his following turn.

nope, the list isn´t fixed though I started the DoA recently.
i do have pods and dreads and a squad without jps and 2 squads of termis.
the mission is random.

I would take the suads down to 5 man and drop jump packs put them in razorbacks with AC. Take 2 ball preds with HB sponsons and SB. Drop rec and get a lib with sheild and epistolary, no flamers. Shooting from range in all fast vehicals is going to be hard for some termies to stop. that srgs can be shot down with ac fire, do your best to shoot it first it will do the most damage depending whats in it and on it.
