Does anyone know how to properly achieve the look of a shaded window where it's still see through but isn't the clear color it came in the box. You see this all the time on the boxes for eldar vehicles, stormraven, I even believe the valkyrie has it. Is a spray gun needed to apply a wash evenly to get this outcome?
Thanks for any info.

I would check out the Tamiya Clear paints.

Without spraying, you can use a dipping method with Future floor polish. Google 'the complete Future' for details.

Any paint in a transparent medium will work for this. These include washes, inks, glazes, transparent paints, clear paints etc...

Just mix a little of your chosen colour into some gloss varnish, thin slightly with water (not too much), and brush/spray on. Use multiple thin coats for a smooth and even deposit of pigment.

The gloss will increase the refraction of colour and give it some nice depth, as well as being self-levelling for a smooth finish, and will also provide a very 'glassy' look that trans paints alone can often take away from the canopies.
