I'm trying to get up my tyranid army to a tournament ready status. This is what I'm considering for a TOAC list.

250 Hive tyrant w/ lash whip, Scything talons, Old adversary, Armored Carapace, Toxic Blood
180 3x Tyrant guard
180 3x Zoanthrope
180 3x Zoanthrope
180 3x Zoanthrope
345 Tervigon w/ Catalyst, adrenal glands, Toxin sacks & 30 Termagaunts
345 Tervigon w/ Catalyst, adrenal glands, Toxin sacks & 30 Termagaunts
340 Tervigon w/ Catalyst, adrenal glands, Toxin sacks & 29 Termagaunts

I'm not sure if this army would actually do well or not, but from what I've seen a lot of people have issues with horde control and it makes me able to FnP any of my bigger termagaunt squads that may take bolter fire. The Hive tyrant would be able to give preferred enemy to everyone around him making him either a 10 wound T6 target or a melee god.

In a list this size and composition, the hive tyrant is gravy, and just another target. The main focus is shoving huge piles of super gants at the opponent, with 3 zoanthrope spores doing the bulk of tank hunting with 4 mcs walking with the horde for mech cleanup.
Groups of AG termagants CAN glance on a 6 to armor ten, but it's not as reliable. Hope for a 6 to immobilize I guess, or at least shake and stun it a bunch so the MCs all auto hit.

I think you should give the zoanthrope groups a spore each, and put TL deathspitters on the spores. Drop two spores near dense tanks or the LR/SR/Bignasty of the opponent, drop the third one behind their lines, preferably right behind a tank so that the spores 6 st6 tentacle shots and 3 TL str5 shots can maybe blow up the tank before the zoanthropes even shoot, allowing you to use their super missile small blasts to clear away some clustered up marines.
Dropping it behind enemy tanks and lines also means that part of the opponents army now has to turn around, instead of meeting your termagant wall full force.

IMO, drop two tyrant guard and 6 termagants from the smaller squad of gants to pay for 3 spore pods with deathspitter upgrades for your zoanthropes.

If your going to do a list like this then you want to optimise on the Tervi-spamming... Drop the HT for another Tervigon with TC, AG & Catalyst. then use any spare points for spore pods for the Zoanthropes.

Tbh thats pretty much all I'd do with this kind of list.
