Right.

Seeing as my other thread seems to have suddenly died due to not being near the top, I have had to resort to starting a new one with the hopes that someone can help me.

If anyone can fully explain a good and reasonably easy way of achieving OSL on a thunderhammer, or even link me to a good website, it would be much obliged.

Cheers,

I posted to your other thread... but this must be important enough to warrant a new post.
I've got this series on OSL on my blog. It may prove helpful.
The "glowing powerfist" series should be read first and then the other posts as they are follow-ups.

Any questions, email me and I'll help you out as much as I can.

I tell them its "The ten-zero factor, coolness ten, combat effectiveness... zero."

I've looked at that and unfortunately I can't blend very well :/

Anyone know of a way to make a thunder hammer glow with no blending?

You can drybrush OSL. Just do the darker version of whatever color you're doing the OSL with as a base, then gradually lighten up on the drybrush the closer you get to the source of the lighting, like a reverse gradient.

Honestly i see two options after reading this and your last post

1. practice blending it gets easy pretty fast just work with making a gradient on spare armor plate or even on your pallet biggest thing is make sure your paint stays wet and thin (thinners preferably not water and slow dry additive of some sort are best imo)

2. dont do osl not to try to be mean but if you cant doit by dry brushing (which i think looks less than great and would suggest strongly to just practice blending since that result is far better ) and you arent able to blend i say practice practice practice till it looks right if you just take a few hours to play with your paints on something useless (spru pallet old model) youll get the hang of it really quick atleast good enough that you can doit and say ya know what this looks good and be happy with it

just my thoughts hope you get it working

if you dont have the patience to learn how to blend or dont want to drybrush i suggest you better leave OSL for what it is right now...

you could always buy a compressor and an airbrush, it will make it easier but it still requires a process that needs to be learned...

there is no magical way to make OSL work, you need to learn new techniques and practice those untill your comfortable enough to try them on your models...

or dont do OSL for now, just focus on blending on the hammer head alone for now, not on the light emitting from it

first, dont do the whole thing, just make the tip glowing white. Then get some thinned down paint and dab/smudge (you can do it with kleenex) towards the white with your color, so that a little bit dries but it's stronger near the glow. It's not easy but that's the only way without airbrush and blending wet paint.

By osl I mean just to make the weapon look like a power weapon or frost axe.

I can blend, it's just for some reason it doesn't want to work the way I used to do it anymore...I have two brushes, one wet one with the paint on, I put the paint on the model then draw it out carefully with the other brush to create a blend :/

time to invest in an airbrush! you can get them pretty cheap. I saw another thread on here where a guy bought a decent starter set for $80 on Amazon.
