Did you know that there was a splinter group from the space wolves know as the; Wolf Brothers, and that the Wolf Brothers turned renagade and joined Oneius Prayd as Red Corsiar during the Scouring of Makenna VII.

I believe there is a picture of them in one of the recent White Dwarfs? They are entirely clad in old bronze; it's quite ugly.

But yeah there are so many paint schemes for chaos. Its such a waste a fully bronze armor theme.

Read about some SW who were fighting for the Red Corsairs in the novel the Gildar Rift, but those were tortured till they joined Huron Blackheart.

Just a thought, would it be possible for GKs to turn to chaos?

I ve got so many chaos space marines and even though the current dex doesn't give you the option to play fluff chaos
I ve painted most of them to my preferred Chaos legions themes...

Not in the current codex no, and anyone else will shoot your idea down at the beginning really. Though before it was about an actual effort, not just incorruptibility.

Check out the Grey Knight books from BL. I liked their handle on them.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Its not that its impossable. It just has never happened and the GKs are doing everything possable to keep it that way.

Only the Purifiers are totally incorruptable. Everyone else has a possability of turning, it just hasn't happened yet.


Given that the codex flat out states it has never happened basically puts it in the off limits zone of the fluff. You don't touch it for the same reason you don't make some fluff up about how your Chaos Lord killed Calgar and stole the body of Roboute Gulliman.

Yeah, a lot of Space Wolves have fallen. Well, when I say a lot, I mean hardly any, but it has happened. There's also Skyrar's Dark Wolves, and some of the Red Corsairs are Space Wolves.

As for GK... they have a magical ward that protects them from corruption. (get it?)

Why wouldn't they give all the SM magical wards that protect them from chaos??

Playing a Wolf Brothers army or even a 13th Company using the chaos space marine codex might be a bit of fun. Especially if the new Chaos Space Marine codex is supposed to come out this year(?)

Too much work (process of training a GK is longer and far more involved than a regular Astartes), very few marines are capable of surviving the indoctrination/warding process (they need to be innately very resistant to begin with), it would involve letting way too many people in on way too specific details about Chaos. Pick one.

Of course, there is also that Chapter whose name I can't remember that forcibly possesses recruits with minor daemons and then helps them force them out, creating Marines who are as resistant to corruption as GK (but don't have all the super fancy tools and rituals to combat the daemonic that GK are privy to).

Because then you would remove the main backbone of 40k fluff and lose most of the feeling of the 40k universe, if the Horus Heresy didn't happen the IoM would be most likely unstoppable by now.

To the OP, as this is the background forum it is very tlikely that most commenters do know about the fluff. It would be also said that it isn't suprising that space wolves have turned renegade as all marines are suseptable. The space wolves are however protected to a degree from the effects of the warp by the canis helix so are unlikely to mutate or directly follow a chaos god.

The few that escaped would have gone renegade, some may have joined Chaos, others may have not.
Incidentally it isn't a splinter group of the Space Wolves.
They are a descendant chapter from the Legion.
