What does a typical list look like for you?

We've actually already got an active advice thread going on right here on the tactics forum. Feel free to chime in.

go mech or go home - use or proxy chimeras to hold veteran squads with special weapons. You'll have far too many vehicles for him to deal with.

In your topic you adressed your problems with mech guard troubles against Tyranids...

With all due respect, but there is more in the Imperial Guard codex than the Veterans squad and the Chimera.

Shouldn't this have been posted in the Tactics or army list list section?

Do you mean you're taking two platoons worth of these, or only one? If you're only taking one platoon, your list is illegal, as a platoon is only one troop choice (insane, I know) and you must have at least 2 troop choices and 1 HQ. Speaking of which, unless you're running a Lord Commissar, it seems like you're short an HQ as well.

Maybe grabbing a CCS to help give orders to all your HWS would benefit you. Then they can twin link fire on the MC's, and force reroll's on any cover saves he takes, depending on the order you use.

As for being unsure on what your tanks and basilisks are, what are you running them as? It seems really odd that you would be using these and yet have no clue what they are. If you don't own a codex already, get it, and then familiarize yourself with your special rules, as well as your unit's stats and wargear. If you don't know what your army really does, you'll never be able to beat anyone, let alone tyranids. From the way you're talking though, your artillery platforms are basilisks (only type that comes in that kit I believe) and the regular Leman Russ with the battlecannon.

Vets in chimeras is not the only viable list IG can run. It's the most common sure, but not the only one you can use ever. The veteran IG players at my store never use it, and instead play hybrid IG (lots of tanks, vendettas, and platoons) and it works very well. This sounds to be the direction the OP is trying to go as well, he just needs to optimize his list some and get more familiar with it.

Ugh. Mech is so boring.

> Anyway, usually there are a couple units that do quite well against a horde-esque Monsterous Critters that Tyranids can dish out. Many of them, while unorthodox by most IG players on Dakka, would pratically shine against a Horde army.

But if you could furnish a list that you use in the Tactics Section, alot of us IG players would be glad to throw our hats in and help you.

Google Chrome and Firefox have built in spellcheck. There's another great spellchecking service called "check your spelling" which must be performed manually. Please work on your spelling and grammar, it's really, really hard to decipher your posts. Even if you're a bad speller you can press the shift key once in a while.

As for your actual army list, you don't even know what kind of Leman Russ you're using? You paid the points for it, you should know what most of your stuff is.
