Thought I'd give making resin bases a go. Never done any kind of casting or anything similar so was going to be interesting.

Here's the first casts:

Here's an old tester one that I made before the masters for this mold, gives you an idea of what the look like painted. These new ones have a better looking rough area on them.

Next in line I tried to do something other than a standard flat base. Thought it was good earlier but the more I look at it etc I'm not so sure I like it that much. Will make a nice base for one of my models, repaint it though depending on what model I put on it. Cast itself was great, getting the hang of it. The round bases are coming out better too.

This is supposed to be a woodland-ish plinth/base thing. The 3 blobs are supposed to be rocks and the tree stump thing is supposed to be, well yeah.

I wanted there to be some details on it but not too many so I (or other people) could add bits to it and there be space for all kinds/sizes of models.

Feedback is always appreciated.

These turned out fantastic. Are you gonna try and do a bunch of other themes?

Thanks for the comments. Got a load of the brick bases cast up ready to give out at my local club. If they use them then they'll need to buy some for their other units - that's the plan at least, if a bit mean.

I've got an invisible frodo on that character base now, fits in quite well. I'm hoping to make a mold for a square plain plinth to use for some of my other character/display only models.

Got some more casting done and finally got some photos.

Brickwork bases

I've got a few of them

Woodland character display bases, they're 10mm-30mm in height

Here's a painted 30mm one

And a top down view

I have loads of resin left over so I can make some if anyone wants any, there's more info in my thread in the swap shop or just pm me.

They are really good mate, where did you get the resin from? Did you just sculpt a master base then create a green stuff mold?

These look very good. If you don't mind me asking, what brand of resin do you use?

Cheers, I got the resin from a chemical company called John Burn, you can get it from quite a few places though.

I created master bases and then mixed up some silicone rubber and used that for the molds.
