Ok, so I'm starting to collect a sisters of battle army, but don't want to overspend to get a working list on the table. Thought I'd run down a list with you guys and get some virtual wounds before suffering too many tabletop

HQ:
Uriah Jacobus

Elite:
Ecclesiarchy Priest: Eviscerator, Laspistol, Melta Bombs

Battle Conclave: 2x Crusaders, 6x Deathcult Assassins
+ Rhino: Dozer Blade, Stormbolter, Hunter-Killer Missle, Extra Armor
(Starts with Uriah and Priest)

Fast Attack:
4x Dominion Squad: 2x Meltagun
+ Dominion Superior: Power Sword, Combi-Melta
+ Immolator: TL MultiMelta, Stormbolter, Extra Armor

Heavy Support:
Exorcist: Stormbolter, Extra Amor

3x Penitent Engines

Troops:
9x Battle Sister Squad: 2x Meltagun
+ Sister Superior: Power Sword, Combi-Melta

Some of the rhino upgrades (especially on the battle conclave) are there to eat up some points and I don't expect them to have too much use. Other than that, thoughts?

Looks pretty good. The only thing that I would say is probably drop the Penitent Engines and take a further Battle Sisters squad and Saint Celestine. These will make you much more competitive in objective games as you now have more objective scoring potential as well as something that will contest opposing objectives very well. If the Penitent Engines don't reach the points needed for these, I'd probably drop the Rhino upgrades that you mentioned as well.

For 90 points you can put in a 5 man squad of Repentia though I understand why you did it[/i]

I would move the Hunter Killer to one of the troops rhinos since they will have a better shot at shooting it than this rhino

I would drop all the extra armor... Just way to many points and just drop 1 of the PEs then add a second Exorcist as for the 2 sister squads its ok but you will have to protect them. drop by the Sister of Battle tactics forum we have about 20 builds over there you can look at and they aren't the standard builds either

Yeah, I agree. For the cost of all your stormbolters, extra armor and the HK, you could get another Exorcist.

Also, I'd drop the power swords for dozer blades on everything. Power weapons on sisters are a waste.

You can debate it, but 2 attacks from a WS3, S3 model is not really doing much for me. Against even tactical marines, that's 1 hits, 1/6 dead marines. 0.17 dead marines per assault phase. 0.25 if you charged.

For those 30 points he has in his list, he can get dozers on all of his vehicles, which keeps him moving and IN the vehicles where the sisters are most effective. Or he can add them to the 135 points of other upgrades and buy another whole dominion squad with transport.

Dominions want to be cheap because they are sacrificial. Sisters want to be cheap because their upgrades don't increase their effectiveness. Like it or not, Sisters are a MSU army now. (Unless you go horde foot.)

I guess at this point level, you are right that the upgraded rhinos are a bit much. Would you suggest ignoring extra armor all together? Or maybe add it to the list once I hit another point level, such at 1750 or 2000?

I actually enjoy playing MSU armies, I think that it gives a lot of mobility and flexibility to the list, although smaller units can be weaker for sure.

Do you think my Uriah et al assault group is too many points for a "single" unit at this point level? It weighs in at a pretty hefty 360 points...

Extra Armor is a complete waste at 15 points a model. You get to ignore a single result on the table for that 15 points, yuck. Dozers are much more useful.

No, Uriah is a key player in your army, I would leave him in.

Also, at this point level, I would HIGHLY recommend Celestine. Drop some upgrades and the priest if you have to. She is a beast.

I tweaked my list a bit taking in some suggestions. I kept the one exorcist and 3x penitent engines for now as I have 3x penitent engines on loan from a friend (yes, this is a $ decision for right now), but will tweak a bit to get another exorcist when I can

Do you have a celestine model or one you could convert to do it?

If I drop one penitent and the priest I can fit Celestine in with some room to spare, that's an acceptable trade off I'd assume?

Also, are sisters w/ Simulacrums a good idea for the dominion squads?

Don't bother with Simulacrums for anything except Retributors, it isn't worth the points.

Penitent + Priest for Celestine is a good trade.

Celestine is HUGE in all games, whereas the priest is situational and redundant since uriah gives rerolls anyways. One chainfist that can be picked out isn't that awesome. An unkillable jump pack 4+ PW? That's awesome.

Lose the priest as Pretre says and it is a good $$ and tabletop trade to ditch the PE for Celestine.

Power Weapons are a waste, he is spot on (same with Simuls) and Dozers are way more useful as well - especially with the Necron DT shenanigans). EA is a waste on most vehicles - especially an exorcist.

So I took out priest and penitent and added: Celestine, and one more assassin and one more sister to each dominion squad. I also added search lights to the BS rhinos and the two immolators (because I was a 1496 and hate that non-nice number and play a necron now and again anyway...).

I somewhat agree with Pretre on the Rets squad, If you were doing a 4 flamer Dom squad then yes I would do that one also, You need the faith to go off on this squad but any other build just makes it not effective.
As for Celestine its really up to you. She can be awesome or lay on her back all game. LOL so its up to you.

Thanks for the help guys! This isn't my first 40K army, but it's the first one that I want to do some special things with (custom basing, careful detail painting, battle reporting, etc.). I think the price of the models warrant the attention

lol, yes. a SoB army is a labor of love. Price and model type really keep you from just impulse buying it.

I would encourage you to magnetize the crud out of your Immos as well. Swappable weapons, magnetized turret, etc really extend the usability of the kit.
