I am not so sure which army to chose (necrons or tyranids). If you guys have had any playing experience with them can you please give me some pros and cons.

Thanks

I play them both. Necrons are probably viewed as the stronger of the two by most. They are both fun to play. It really depends on what you want in terms of an army.

I love my Tyranids, but they aren't the most competitive army (if that's something you care about), painting the small troops can be very repetitive, and they don't fit well in most GW figure cases.. Also, with how low points most of the units are, it can be very expensive to purchase. The giant bugs are great models to build and paint, they have some neat special abilities and rules and I enjoy playing as them. Don't know much about new Necrons...

I can support the tyranids piece. They are in fact a very fun army to play, yet probably not the most "financially sound" choice you can make. To be effective with tyranids you need a lot of expensive models(actual dough). If your willing to shell out the cash then you can have a good time with them. I myself have been working with them for over six years now and love them. Sure they got nerfed in their most recent codex but they still can put up a really good fight. I take full advantage of there close combat abilities.

Necrons on the other hand, havnt played them before, nor have I fought them since.....well....3rd edition. They were a pretty resilient army back in the day. If Im not mistaken they still are. And they have some serious fire power to lay down on their foes.

Good luck dude! Remember, the hive mind will eventually eat you. Its inevitable.

Necrons are good for the first time since 4th edition! Conversely, Tyranids are not very good for the first time since 4th edition. Nids can definitely bring a mean army list to a game though, and they've got some really good units like Genestealers, Termagants, and Tervigons. Necrons have a more powerful codex with a lot more in the way of usable and competitive options, however, and fewer completely useless units.

Honestly, which would you rather paint? You're going to be painting a lot of models regardless. If the thought of painting hundreds of Gaunts drives you crazy you may want to go for the Necron side of things.

Bugs are the most fun! Just be prepared to shell out some money when you want a decent points level.

Don't get too attached to your little bug buddies though! They are so easily killed...

The first game I had with my IG I was super pumped. I had just read Cadian Blood, and I was prepared to field my badass regiment of fully painted Guard. Then 30 of them die in one turn. I was heartbroken.

So yeah, get ready for tears when hordes of your lovingly painted dudes die every turn. It's better that way!

Nids are a blast, as long as you dont mind not being a top tier army at the moment. But then again this hobby is about playing an army that you like, and one that you will spend a lot of time painting.

And the core of the army isnt too expensive, gaunts, gants, stealers all pretty affordable.

Only when you get into the finecast units and larger kits does the cost add up. But hey, who says you have to buy it all at once? Buy it as you can afford it.
