So right now I play a 1500 point speed freak Ork army. So lots of getting in my opponents face and melee the hell out of them for the most part. Well I'm getting army add as of late and have narrowed down to either Tau or blood angels. Note this army will on;y be in the 1000 popint range.

As of right now I am leaning a bit more towards tau just because it looks like the exact opposite of ork melee. And I always thought the battlesuits and hit and run tactics were bada$$. But then again the blood angels just seem so boss and have easy lists to come up with quickly.

So lets here your personal opinion Dakka on why you would choose one or the other.

I would work on fleshing out your Orks. Get some lootas and battlewagons if you want to go for shooting. Believe it or not, Orks can be a very shooty army if you want them to be.

True. But looking at the same army over and over can get old. So thats why i figured i would have a go at a different army with different units/characters/stories.

Tau are a lot of fun to paint, and have a very distinctive, more sleek and professional style - which would contrast nicely with the wild and crazy orks you've been painting and modding. Also, you have every reason to start nice and slow, since no one knows when we'll get that new codex.

My P&M blog - in which I chronicle the transformation of a battered windfall of models into an awesome addition to my Blood Angels force (hopefully) - can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/431820.page.

I'd go Blood Angels, it'd be similar to Orks, but no really. It all depends on what build of Blood Angels you use. If you do mass Jump Infantry its going to function very differently than Mechanized BA. In fact mechanized BA is the exact opposite of your orks. You want to stay back and shoot until you need to go grab those objectives Turn 4 or Turn 5.

hahaha. Nice. I feel the same way as the OP but i keep thinking " Would I rather have two armies that are smaller or one large army that I can switch units around and play with different lists more often?" Then I pretty much talk myself out of it. Also thinking about how my wife would chop my gaks off deters me from that road as well.

Its still kind of a toss up. I do like the assault marine BA list though. The thing is my second army when i finally pick them out will be no high than 1000 points.

Tau, all the way.

They're completely the opposite of what you already have, their models are unique, and one more Xenos army is infinitely cooler than another marine army.

Also, I hate BA, so I'm a little biased.

EDIT: And they might see a new codex this year, so with the trend of codex creep they might find their way to the top of the heap as well.
