Two questions.
1. Can psychic communion be cast with a model which is in reserve? I say no as the model isn't in play.
2. Can a Overlord sweep attack a unit engaged in close combat? I checked the rules and FAQ and doesn't say you can't, plus it's a special attack in the movement phase.
Thanks

1) no, you have to have permission to use something while in Reserves, which a gkgm does not have.
2) yes, because it is not shooting, and yiu have permission to hit any unit you pass over

I'd say no to both as units in reserve don't have a movement phase as such and the general rule for units locked in close combat seems to prohibit anything other than accidental attacks in the absence of a special rule to the contrary.

"prohibit anything other than accidental attacks"
Does it specifically say that. I was under the impression that nothing can be aimed at them but the sweep attack, in a similar manner to JOTWW is a line drawn and if a unit in CC is under the line they can be hit.

The sweep attack only cares if the Command Barge moved over the enemy unit. The status of the unit as it did (fighting, fleeing, drinking tea) is irrelevant. So yes, the sweep attack happens normally.

1 - Definitely cannot be cast in reserve
2 - Definitely can be used to snipe models in CC. You are given broad permission to sweep a unit you fly over and there are no prohibitions in the BRB preventing it (only deliberate shooting is addressed).

You can't "snipe" models, but you can sweep units you pass over that are engaged in assault. There is a difference.

Well, you can if you roll a 6 to-hit. But yea.

On a 6 you allocate the wound, I assume if you are flying over a CC you are really hoping for that 6 so you can remove a powerfist or ID a T3 model...

Indeed. It's tough to keep from smiling when you see the PF Sergeant lose his head to a sweep attack.

Sorry guys but this sounds really weird for me: is there any rule that allows the attacking player to allocate the wounds on a 6 to hit? I didn't read anything about this in the rulebook but that would make a f****g big chence for my playing style... can any1 clarify this for me please, i would be grateful.

The catacomb command barge has a special rule that allows it. It's not a general rule.

It's part of the special rules for the CCB sweep attack, not any sort of general rule.
