so, im starting an empire army, got pretty much everything planned out, large blocks of state troops, cannon etc and a few knights.... the only problem is..... the current empire knights are awful.... I rarely discount anything from an army list because of its looks but these things are just terrible, seriously..... those horses are just sooooooooo small, and the models as a whole just dont do anything for me.... I've been scanning the interwebs all day trying to find some nice alternatives and have thus far found two plausible option, first up is the fireforge teutonic knights: http://www.fireforge-games.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=21&category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=95. these are alright, but theres no actual barding just cloth (think the technical term is capulet). the ones I am much more tempted by are the new perry mounted men at arms. these have the option to make much more extravagant looking knights with all the feathers and such, plus they have actual (visible) barding, plus the barding is optional if I feel like not having it on (for one reason or another=p. http://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_62&products_id=2713.

As im such a picky so and so, i'd be somewhat hesistant to buy either of these sets if the scale would be completely off to the rest of my army. hwo do 28mm miniatures match up to the 28mm heroic warhammer minatures.... pictures comparisons would be especially helpful. thanking ye in advance.

Perry miniatures are a bit slighter than GW heroic scale models. They wouldn't necessarily look terrible next to your other GW models though. Take a look at this website: http://www.fysh.org/~katie/pictures/miniature-compares/

You want the first picture in the second row. The miniatures are just about the same size, but the Perry models are less "heroic," although the proportions are not true to scale. You will also find that the Perry models are not as flamboyant as the GW empire models. The sculpts are very well researched and for the most part historically accurate. Even so, you can find many rather empire-ish models in their ranges.

On a side note, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Perry models. Perry is my favorite miniatures company, even though I don't play historical wargames. I use Perry models for IG conversions and for Mordheim models. Perry's products are almost always a fantastic experience from opening the box to putting a fully finished model on the table. On top of that, the new plastic box sets include sprues that often have neat bits and clever little options. They are also very easy to convert. I cannot recommend Perry highly enough.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

aha, very helpful, think my empire have just found some knights, will have shields and bits left over from the state troops which should do nicely to 'empire them up' a bit =D. again thank you very much, put all my doubts to rest.
