Hey guys, had a random question for you lot.
My brother and my friend both play 40K. My brother's the Ultra smurfs and my friend is the Tau.
we wanna do a 2 against 1 match (the two being my friend and I, me being the Orks) against my brother. How would we set up the points for an even match? Would it even be possible? If so, how many points for the two player side and how many for the 1 player? Any special rules we should add? Thanks!

if its 2 vs 1 then its really easy.

Pick a point value, the team players each get half of that and their opponent gets the full amount.

Its not rocket science.

Exactly as the above poster said.

Say it's 2k pts, UM get 2k list, orks have a 1k list and tau have a 1k list also pretty simple.

Also split the Force Org. Chart.

So, 1 HQ for each person in the 2 man team etc.

This will prevent him facing something like 4 HQs and 12 Troops

Finally, a gesture of good luck, you should deploy first and give him first turn.

Yeah but to be fair for each side, you should restrict the force org slots unless they are casual armies. So you don't come up against 6 heavys and two cheap 5 man scout teams and tau equalled force. They should be sharing or be using limited force org on the two person side while the other has full use.

Sorry for the same info, slow typing on phone

As someone who's played tons and tons of 2v1 and 3v2 games, I can attest that the above method works out great. I will say the outnumbered party tends to lose more often for whatever reason, but some of my most fun and closely fought games were matches with uneven amounts of players.

The easiest way to do this is to have 4 armies on the table.

You make 2 different 1k point detachments, and your brother and your friend both get a single 1k point detachment.

So you make 2 different 1k point UM detachments following the force org chart for each detachment. Your opponents do the same, but they only get 1k points each detachment, for a total of 2k vs 2k points.

That way there are 4 force org charts on the field and everything is even with each team totaling 2k points.

Also remember that one armies rules should not be used with the other, so you can not transport anything from one UM army with the allied transports, you can not join one detachments IC's to a different detachment, etc. It makes for a game that is more fair.

P.S. I thought the OP was going somewhere totally different, and the title was the only reason I opened the thread in the first place.

The way I did it when I played a husband/wife team was simple. They each fielded 1500 point armies, I got a 3000 point army with double FOC meaning I had to bring 2 HQs and 4 troops, but that means we had even forces.
