Like the title says i was just wondering can you magnetise the GW state troops and the crossbow/handgunner so that you can swap the weapons out and also does anyone know what size magnets i would need to do that or would pinning be a better option.

It doesnt matter if most of the voices are in your favour it is often the loudest voices get heard especially when they're shouting gak.

You'll probably want to magnatize them at the shoulder and glue the weapons into the hands instead of just trying to make the weapons swappable. The shoulder area allows for a larger magnet and thus a better hold.

Have you checked whether the position of each model will work for both options when glued to the base?

just buy some extra bodies and bases and glue your extra crossbows to them. Its easier, cheaper and less work. (maybe the same amount of work by the time you paint them.

State troops (the melee variety) and handgunners/crossbowmen have different legs+torsos, so it's unlikely that you could magnetize them in the way you're meaning without it being pretty ugly

the militia box has a mix of hand weapons and ranged weapons however
