I LOVE the execution rule with commissars. AWESOME! The other day a thought occured. If a commissar armed with a plasma weapon executes someone, shouldn´t he make a gets-hot test?

The model must actually fire the plasma weapon to be affected by the "Gets-Hot" rule. The Imperial Guard codex doesn't say the commissar fires his weapon, only that he summarily executes the officer/sergeant. If you want to get technical, then shouldn't the executed model get an armor save? What about the commissar rolling to hit and wound? Nope. Just "remove it as a casualty" just like the codex says.

Since the commissar IDs all models it doesn't matter. Even Senor officer can be ID and they have 3 wounds. and a 5++.

It's a point-blank shot to the dome from a .75 cal pistol firing an armor-piercing, mass-reactive explosive shell.

Feth your helmet, your skull just exploded (literally) and your brainmeats is scattered around you in a 2m spread. It doesn't do X wounds worth of damage, it does ALL the Wounds worth of damage.

I actually just got a picture of the Commissar ripping out the still beating heart, chanting Kali Mah

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I found it a bit odd when they changed Commissars from laspistol to boltpistol as standard in the last Codex.

Summary Execution with a laspistol was fine, it's quick, precise and to the point. Now they're doing with a large caliber shell, that once it's blown a hole into the guardsman it then explodes!

Setting an example is one thing, traumatising a squad is another. The Emporer does not pay for therapy! The Commissars will be issued red uniforms next to save on the cleaning bill.

Also converting all my models to boltpistols was a pain.

Executing someone as an example with a little "pew, pew" laser pistol is kinda pointless... taking a hand cannon and pulping them gets the point across in terms that everyone will notice even in the heat of battle (which is the point).

Spoiler:

I knew there was a reason commissars were included with the Imperial Guard.

Or do like the commisar from Gaunts Ghosts that they meet, who has a bionic hand and crushes your skull instead.

Even messier.

Wasn't that Commissar "Crusher" from the Gunheads novel on Golgotha? He had bionic hands, too, and crushed some poor guy's skull for his first summary execution.

Maybe he's also in Gaunt's Ghosts novels, though, I can't really remember. Different authors, though.

Las pistols aren't "pew pew". Fluff wise a point-blank laspistol to the head is going to vaporise a hole through your head and kill you instantly.
Admitidly bolt pistols would still be much messier...and plasma pistol would be messier still. Seeing a melted stub where your sargent's head used to be would be pretty traumatic.

According to Orks, Laspistols and Lasguns are most definitely "Pew Pew" which is why Orks don't respect them. Not enough Dakka dakka

Pew-pew - strong enough to kill a normal man, but can't paper armour.
Dakka-dakka - Slightly stronger and can penetrate paper armour (though nothing else)

Of course this is all RAW and kind of fluff.
