Hi, so after practicing on some space marines, I decided to go with tyranids as my first army. Friend of mine was goign to teach me to play but he had to move for work, so here I am just painting it atm, hope to try a game soon. Hopefully I can get some tips here, and some reviews.

the theme im going for is the Venomancer from Dota 2. atleast the basic colors.

The first one I tried a black wash, and he turned out... dirty, like he climbed out of a chimney. So I went with it and made the base with a lava theme, kind of worked so let me know if its viable to separate a squad.

Have a mawloc, 10 genestealers, 10 hormogaunts, 60 termagaunts, carnifex, and 3 warriors. Still cleaning up the bitz after cutting them out, is taking forever... should have went for a bunch of big guys instead of a swarm. But I do plan to have all of the squads painted.
Thanks for looking.

Well its been awhile, but summer is ending and I now have time for my army.

Got these guys painted up, now have my army cleaned of flash, some more than others since I learned as I went, and everything is built, I magnetized the carnifex but only the close range arms are painted atm, also I magnetized my mawloc and bought an extra head off ebay to turn him into a trigon if need be, he is almost done. Then have 26 hormagaunts, 10 genestealers, 8 ymgarl genestealers, 2 Primes, 20 gargoyles, 4 Shrikes with forgeworld wings, and a magnetized tervigon. oh and the bane of my current existence 70+ termies.

I havent finished the bases on the termies I have finished painting, but I've gotten a process down that lets me paint one termie in about 20 minutes, faster when doing 10 or so at a time since I don't sit there watching paint dry...

Pics of what is currently finished: (yes I know I'm bad at taking pictures.

Got most of my Mawloc/Trygon done, magnetized the top talons & the heads, still need to add a wash to all the carapace spots, paint the Trygon head and finish the base, i used his correct height so hopefully no1 will say the base makes him illegal. Also does the Trygon ever go underground? or is that base wrong for a Trygon?

Any tips are appreciated, Thanks!

First of, great looking army
I think the Nids are at their best when they actually look like giant spacebugs (and not some sort of "biology on acid"-project)

Only thing I can point out is: paint the sides of the bases!! xD
It looks sloppy

Oh, and the Trygon can go underground (at least fluff-wise... "in-game" it can only burrow in to deep-strike, and not go back into the ground... Unlike the Mawlock, but that one really stinks in CQC when compared to the Trygon...)

Anyways, keep up the good work

Tau sucks at Close Quarter? Meet the Fish Of Fury!

Hey guys, got my Tyranid Primes finished, took these pictures with my phone so the quality isnt the best. Let me know what you think.

The bottom arms are magnetized as you can see, on both of them.
