New to the site and war gaming but as you can tell by the subject title i'm collecting Ork. so far i have 20 boys and my latest purchase (because they where so cheap) of 5 AoBR Deffkoptas for £10 of e-bay bargain if you ask me. I have a few questions the first being because the koptas are push fit and don't quite fit correctly down the center do you recommend i use the liquid green stuff from GW or the putty the caps vary from hair line to a few mm.
Next and last question other than the obvious answer (more boyz, more boyz) what do you think i should get next Ghazy is in the pipeline along with a tone of boyz but i don't know where to go next my plan is to filed a green tide army? Maybe KFF?
Thanks in advance and i'm sorry if i'v posted this in the wrong section.

Liquid Green Stuff is the stuff for gap filling. You need more boyz before anything else. Mobs of 30 are best for footsloggers, and any and every boyz mob requires a nob with powerklaw and bosspole. That's not a suggestion, that's something you should honestly always do.
Don't take Ghazgkull unless you've got him riding in a battlewagon. He'll slow your dudes down too much on foot, since they have to move at his feet. I wouldn't get a KFF mek unless you had some vehicles for him to cover. Infantry can usually get cover, but vehicles need the protection a KFF gives.

A mob (3) meganobz usually works with ghaz in a battlewagon, regular wound allocation nobz even work too. Just make sure if you do to have some other target saturation so your opponent don't just fire at ghaz and nobz in the wagon. If your don't have any other warbosses and just ghaz just proxy him for a reg warboss. Btw only use ghaz for like 2000+ point list. Again more boyz, lol

That has been bugging me for a while now in my codex under how many models can be taken per squad it says 3-10 for meganobz is this right or a typo?
Yeah i knew when i made the post i would get bombarded with replies 'more boyz!...more boyz!' so i know with any type of ork army that's a must.

Nope, that's not a typo! You can take a mob from anywhere between 3 and 10 Meganobz. This can be pricey though, as they're very expensive models from GW and pretty hard to convert. Some people convert them out of plastic Terminators, but the proportions are off by a country mile and don't really look right for Orks. I'd probably stick him with a bunch of Nobz in a battlewagon.

I just started using Gthraka. I have a list at 2,500 points where he rides in a battlewagon (striped down version, red paint job and armor plates) with 5 mega nobz. Seems to be working so far.

Welcome to the green side!
I'll just repost what I have advised many new orks before you, most people who followed that advice seem to be pretty happy with it.
So my advised best buys after AOBR in order:
1. Nobz box. Lots of klaws, big choppas and combi weapons. Don't be affraid to cut of the AOBR nobz arms to fit the better weapons on. Bonus: Nobz work quite well in low-point games, which you are playing at this point.
2. Boxes of Boyz. You can't make Shootaboyz out of AOBR boyz easily(stupid arms), so get the regular boxes. Each one allows you to build an additional boy /w rokkit and a nob /w PK and bosspole. You can add the rokkits and one nob to your other boyz, put the AOBR big shootas with your shoota boyz.
3. Kanz OR Battleweagons. Actually fully up to you which one. If you like huge amounts of boyz, go kanz. Magnetize the kanz arms, so you can switch weapons later. If you like tanks and ramming them into everything, go battlewagons. Do not glue any turrents onto the hull, so you can switch them. Last, but most important: Do not buy both kanz and battlewagons, as they don't work well together.
3. Yeah, two thirds. Get Lootaz&Burna boxes. Each box is missing three bodys to build all lotaz and burnaz, do not build the meks. You can use boyz boxes to compensate. If you keep the burna heads and use regular ones, you can use them and all the spare backpacks you will have by now(meks, boyz) to build quite good looking kommandoz. You need more bodies for that though, but AOBR boyz work fine.
4. BigMek with KFF. One of our best HQs, save boyzs, kanz and battlewagons.
5. Do not buy the battleforce for now, you do not want one trukk, three warbikes and twenty boyz. No ork army wants them in that combination, too many boyz for a trukk, too few trukks for the boyz, too few warbikers for anything. If you later decide to move towards a kult of speed army, you can still buy them in multiples.
If you got all that, you'll have pretty good idea where to go from there.
As for your kopta problem: This is usually due to some part of plastic sticking up on either half. If you use a knife or file to remove any edges, the two halves of the koptaz should fit perfectly without a gap in between. If in doubt, those koptaz can withstand quite a lot of force, so don't be afraid to put some weight on them to press the sides together.
If all that fails, sure, go liquid green stuff. Though a new kopta off ebay is probably cheaper than a bottle of GW's liquid gold.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Thank you Jidmah. Can't tell you how much that explained things.
I will probably buy both the battlewagon and Kanz as i like them both alot and cant decide and then field them in different battles. So Ghaz in a battlewagon with 18 boyz along with another battlewagon or trukk with nobz on the other flank so they dont know what to shoot at with a tone of boyz foot slogging it down the middle of the board.
And in smaller point games try and adopt a kan wall. Sound good? Or have i missed the idea completely?
I'd decided to cut off the plugs on the deffkoptas as they're only there to allow people to assemble them without glue and then liquid green stuff the remaining hairline cracks.

It's good for the first games (that's what I did anyway), but once your collection starts growing, try to get everything mounted on battlewagons, bikes or trukks, whichever you prefer more. Three golden rules of building a successful ork lists are: 1. Don't mix fast and slow - orks need to stay together if they want to be strong. Mixing walking units and driving ones splits them because of their very nature. 2. Boyz before toyz - all orks die quickly when shot, no matter how shiny their toyz are. If your model count is too low your opponents will simply shoot you off the board. 3. 1 + 1 > 2 - True for many armies in 40k, but even more so for orks. Boyz, trukks, kanz, battlewagons, lootaz, buggies, etc all become better the more you have, as your opponent can't shoot everything at once.
