So, vasically, my vanilla marine army is Blood Ravens. As there are a few sources to point to a possible BA connection (Blood references, powerful psykers, etc) I was thinking.of running my army as BA.on.occasion. As a rule, PA is PA, and the armour is also red. As I already run a stormraven with my army and have an Ironad to run as a Furioso ( Seismic Hammer/Meltagun, DCCW/stormbolter as Blood fists. Hks as Magna grapple) and most other thing are the same, I think.it would be.viable. Also, I want some Sanguary GUard to use as VV in my.BR, so.if I can.use them as Sang Guard once in a while.

What do you think?

I don't understand really.
BR are the successors of the Thousand Sons and besides, their style of war is not really akin to Blood Angels. BR have a libby leading every squad and are otherwise a codex chapter without any more Assault Squads or jump packs than usual.

I'm not really keen on the idea of anyone running a marine army as two different codices if their chapter is not one they've made up. Because technically the BR have predefined fluff and the codex to best approximate it is Vanilla Marines.

That being said, it's your army, your friends and your game, so you can do as you wish. I just wouldn't expect it to be viable at tournies

There's decidedly little they have in common beyond having "Blood" in their chapter names. Blood Ravens are hinted to come from Thousand Sons gene stock, hence the greater presence of psykers. Just play Codex: Space Marines and use librarians as your HQs.

Also OP, what is with the abuse of the period key in your post? You use it as a space half the time and it makes your post kind of tough to get through.

BR are assumed to be the THousand Sons successors. Not proven. They also have small evidence to suggest BA and RG and even.IF connections.

Also, I would run the as mostly a foot list. I would have a 5 man Assault Squad and Sang Guard. Wierd and uncompetitive.but I would like it.

That's why I said it's been hinted at. Why would you want to run a 5 man assault squad specifically?

Sorry. I type from my mobile phone and the period is right beside the space. And I have inaccurate fingers. I try to keep it undr control, but there are always a few I miss and trying to correct the invaribly adds as many or more.

I wasn't talking to you when my last post came was writen. Flipping ninja'd me. And the reason I am running a 5 man assault squad is that I have a predominantly static BR force. Might present a challenge for BA.

Blood Ravens have consistently been listed in the basic SM codex.

That said, if you prefer using them as BA, or SW, or whatever... few people are going to complain too much. Some will, and loudly (especially online or behind your back), but BR dont' have locked in rules to the extent that, say, even White Scars or Fleshtearers have.

The other reason I want to run them as BA is that they are red marines. With a Stormraven. That win a lot. People assume they are BA already. Especially people who don't play me often.

So running them as BA just alleviates the problem of saying " BR, not BA."

Run them as whatever you want to run them as.

BA? fine.
SM? fine.
DA? fine.
BT? Fine.

Etc...

This. Your marines, your choice as what Codex you use. Just make sure your opponent knows and all the models are clear as to what they are.

I think running a Blood Raven army with rules of Blood Angels could work if you field 2 scriptors and 3 psyker dreads to make full use of the BA psyker potential.
But then again I must agree with must people here on both sides:
A. I don't really see why you'd run Blood Ravens as Blood Angels. From a fluff or game play point of view I can't really see a connection, but...
B. It's your army. You can do (almost) what ever the hell you want with them. Use your imagination and be creative and you should be fine.

There is a small fluff connection can be drawn.in the they have a large number of powerful psykers and the Blood references.

Hell, one possibility is that they are.IF descendents because they maintain one of Dorn's weapons.

They have weapons from all over the place. They're Blood Magpies. It seems like you're missing the point of Blood Angels if you're just going to stand still and shoot though, and a 5-man assault squad is little more than target practice. Bump it up to 10 and hope for the best. I'm still not buying this as a counts-as Blood Angels army though.

You should totally do it, find which codex you like using more. At the very least it lets you use your Storm Raven legally.

Yeah, thats a another reason. Would only apply outside of my local GW though for that reason. That store has a house rule where DA, BT, SW and Vanillas can take a Stormraven for HS. It takes 2 Heavy Slots and you must rename the Bloodstrike Missiles and Skies of Blood to match your chapter.
