I have outfitted all of of my sergents with Combi Meltas. The bolter is rapid fire (fire or assault) while the melta is an assault weapon (fire then assault). The SM Codex is vague and I can't find anything in the rules. I want to have the Sergent use his melta then attack with the power fist.

If you fire the Meltagun it is an assault weapon and therefore (as long as you are not restricted from assaulting due to something else, such as another model firing a Rapid Fire or Heavy Weapon), the unit may still charge.

Whatever profile has been used that turn controls whether you can assault that turn. If you fired an Assault weapon (the melta portion). If you fired a Rapid Fire weapon (the bolter half) you can't.
