People don't realize that paying more taxes actually does increase their quality of life, even if slightly, as well. Many people use government programs for their intended purpose for a short time then get back to being productive; that is to say, to getting back the majority of the tax they payed every year. I don't like the idea of being forced to pay things and being threatened like a criminal for not doing it, but i can't deny that good comes of it either. It's nice to have healthcare as an option, but it would be cool if I could actually afford it too.

As for how embarrassing our political system is, at least you are not living with it. Our political system is basically controlled by those guys in high school you think would amount to nothing or fat living in a trailer park with 9 kids.
It's become trendy and acceptable to be stupid and ignorant.
If someone is called on it, they admit it and label their strengths as being a family man or woman or going to church.
Qualifications for running a town, state or country is rather low.
