Whats your backup plan for when you fail your rolls to use Gate or your opponents Libby beats you with his hood?

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

Here's my two cents worth:

I'd personally give the Libby a psychic shooting attack of smoe kind rather than null zone, that way you can pick a few guys off of the squad the terminators are about to assault.

Drop Pod your sternguard, I decided to do it, on the advice of my fellow dakkanuats, and it's very effective. The whole discussion can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/recentTopics/showTopicsByUser/51399.page

Also you have your two of your Predators with Autocannon turrets and Lascannon sponsons? I've never really seen much point in having an anti-infantry weapon (Autocann) and an anti-tank (lascannon) weapon on a Predator. You can't target two seperate things in the same shooting phase, so half of your shots are being wasted on a non-optimal target. This may be a personal preference thing though, who knows?

The termies in the list are mainly for psycological, distracting and counter-charging reasons.
If i fail the test, i do not mind them bubble-wrapping my tanks for another turn.
Usually i gate the termies in my first movement phase closer to the middle of the table and no more afterwards. The enemy Libby is never within 24'' in my first turn.

I have used this tactic for quite a few games now and it works well for me. They take a lot of heat off my other units.

I understand podding can kill key units early but i would only have one pod and no way to support it. I feel like sacrificing the whole unit, as my army is mainly shooty.

Early in the game i never shoot lascannons on AV 13/14, i find it a waste. The ACs can damage AV 12 with some luck.

It would be awesome if i could give sternguard a pod w/locator beacon and then gate the termies next to them.. Unfortunately i can only gate within 24'' of the Libby's position..

Null Zone is one of the best powers in the game, forcing you opponent to re-roll successful inv saves is huge! It means you can reliably take on killy units, screws DE vehicles (flickerfield), for a more solid example imagine trying to kill something with a good inv save (wyches, terminators, thunderwolves), null zone makes you sooo much more effective. Smite is meh! On average only half of the hits will wound and your opponent will invariably be in cover (if they don't have a good inv save).

AC/Las predators are vehicle hunters, they are preferable to triple Las due to the price difference (120 as opposed to 165), generally you'll be shooting at AV12 or less anyway so the AC/Las gives you 4 reasonable chances of taking out a vehicle. I wouldn't like to fire Lascannons at AV13/14 unless there's no better targets.

Back to OP's list, most of your list is solid though I am somewhat puzzled by the sternguard. Also if you take the tactical's rhino your stranding the 5 marines (assuming you combat squad) with short range weaponary. The librarian works pretty well with sternguard, a squad of 6, 2 Heavy Flamers, 4 combi-meltas & a PowerFist can take on pretty much anything.

I know it's a little spammy but I would swap the terminators for another rifleman, and run the librarian with the sternguard (I also prefer MM to ML), I'd also add more typhoons as they are amazing! Maybe swap the dakka pred (AC/HB) for a thunderfire cannon but thats my personal preference. In objective games run the MM, combi-melta & melta-gun in one combat squad then just have the 5 bolter marines hiding somewhere. You then have 3 melta bunkers to drive forward, 8 mobile missiles from the typhoons, 8 mobile autocannon shots from the dreadnoughts and all the predator goodness. Hope this helps.

This is almost identical to your 2k list you posted here.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/442544.page#4145263

Why post pretty much the same list in a new thread? (minus 5 termis and some combi-meltas on your sternguard)
Respectfully -- do you expect to post nearly an identical list and get different comments?
