Alright, as per the title, this is the first time I've tried putting together a list for Fantasy for a long time. The only hint I can give about my gaming environment is my main opponent (and only for the forseeable future) is my brother. Not competitive, and runs Skaven (likely with a couple of big blocks of clanrats). I want to stick with a Lahmian theme, so primarily Skeletons and Grave Guard, and give myself a solid base to expand on to 3000 points. While I want 'feral' units, I want to avoid Ghouls if I can, and stick with Varghulfs, Vargheists and Terrorgheists.

Vampire Lord (Dark Acolyte, Level 4, Dispel Scroll, Heavy Armour, Talisman of Preservation)

Vampire (Sword of Swift Slaying, Red Fury, Heavy Armour, Enchanted Shield, Luckstone)
Necromancer (Level 2)
Banshee

49 Skeletons (full command, Vampire Lord sits in unit)
48 Skeletons (full command, Necromancer and Banshee sit in unit)

20 Grave Guard (full command, fighter Vampire sits in unit)
5 Black Knights (full command, barding, lances)

Varghulf

The main idea is Skeletons make up the battle line, supported by any Zombies raised during the game, and they get replenished on the way to the enemy by the Lord and Necromancer. The Grave Guard and fighter vampire make up the solid hammer unit, and the Black Knights are a counter flank charging unit. The Varghulf runs solo and hunts anything worthwhile. My main concern is I'm blowing too many points on my Lord for 2000 points and don't have enough hard hitting stuff.

T.O.

I don't see why your lord has nothing but dark acolyte. The main reason to take a level 4 vamp is combine the fighty and magic aspects of your characters and thus save a few points. The risk of course is putting all your egg in the lord little basket.

The cursed book is fun and if you're not being competitive its a nice choice but the book of arkhan is more predictable and therefore more reliable.

Red Fury works best on lords when it can be combined with quickblood, but here's a decent combo for you little vamp: Red Fury, Sword of Swift Slaying, Hvy Armor, Enchanted Shield, and either the Luckstone or Ironcurse.
ASF, and a 3+ armor save. The extra attack (for add'l hwp) isn't necessary if you know you're always re-rolling against basic troops. Of course you could swap for a sword of battle if you think you can get danse off on him a lot.

If your brother likes to run a level 4 I recommend finding room for a dispel scroll. Plague and Dreaded 13 are horrible spells to be hit with.

The rest of the army is ok, but you'll need to be careful with the knights and varghulf. They're support units, there are very few things they can kill by themselves.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste

I was avoiding kitting out the lord to fight since I want it to be casting for longer, not getting into combat ASAP. Also, I just ran out of points, and some of the Bloodline powers for caster lords are downright expensive. It initially had Master of the Black Arts, but was eating up too many points.

I managed to fit a Dispel Scroll on my lord after changing to that combo and changing out the Cursed Book for the Book of Arkhan. Something else I forgot was the Grave Guard have the Banner of the Barrows. List updated in the OP.

edit - a bit more tweaking left me with Heavy armour and the Talisman of Preservation on my lord (because I realised I hadn't given it armour), which is slightly cheaper than the Armour of Destiny. Though it's meant dropping the Book of Arkhan.
