Alright folks,

As the title says, looking for a tutorial (preferably a video) on layering techniques. I'm painting a SM Librarian in Termy armour and have so far based it,and edge highlighted, though I think I need to look at layering to really build it up (it's in my Sons of Orar blog if you want to look and critique the armour).

So yeah - any one know of any good videos out there for an amateur to make sense of?

Cheers

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Hmmm.... not sure really... I'm trying to find something to help get better armour effects on this 'ere Librarian other than just prime / base / edge highlight. That looks like a cracking tutorial (TEN DROPS OF WATER??!!) though not sure if that's what I'm looking for?

Could just be because he's demo'ing on a cape, and I'm too much of a noob to be able to translate that technique on to flat armour surfaces

Alright, lemme try again:

Typically, I try to shop around and learn from multiple sources when I start a new technique, so here's a couple different sources. I believe this is a bit closer to what you're after.

Good luck

I wonder if this one will help you out. It breaks it down and covers some of the tings to keep in mind while adding your "layers."

I tell them its "The ten-zero factor, coolness ten, combat effectiveness... zero."

Excellent tutorial

For anyone just starting layering (and assuming you're not working on a black base) I would recommend putting a very thin dark wash over the area you want to paint; this helps pick out where the deepest shadows will be and therefore, where not to put any more paint.

Just discovered your 'from the warp' Blog in the dop pod thread. Some great advice, thanks. I'll be busy reading that or the rest of the day.
