I have recently decided to start a 1000 Sons army. I'm going full out, only Rubric Marines as my troops choices. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to convert/paint things like rhinos to make them seem more... in step with the theme of 1000 Sons. I don't just want blue chaos rhinos, you know? I want to make them identifiable as 1000 Sons. Can anyone help?

The easiest method is probably Forgeworld's TS rhino doors.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.
8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.
Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

I agree completely but unfortunately they are beyond my budget range

If you've got an airbrush, you can make some stencils using Thousand Sons iconography.
That and a nice paint job can make them stand out pretty well, like this.

Try your hand out with kneadatite or other putty, and try out one of these designs, placing a varation over the front/glacis, and the side door. You could also try sculting the faces of the rhino to look more like this: or like: There's a lot of fun to be had with the thousand sons, going either the egyptian route, or trim everything so that it looks like it's gilded, and fill everything with horizontal striped panels (again, kneadatite or some other sculpting putty will do. I used plasticard to do the encasing on my iron warrior predator) and then just paint in alternating colors of blue and gold. The last option is the most difficut I feel. Amp up your painting and paint onto it the egyptian heiroglyphics.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

A number of people have done hover-rhinos, removing the tracks/wheels and replacing them with antigrav gubbins, and mounting the whole thing on a low flying base (so that the resulting model is still around normal rhino height). It fits in nicely with Tzeentch's mutation theme. You could go totally mental and create walking rhinos or something even more extreme. - people have done interesting vhicle conversions with Defiler legs for example.

Wow guys, great ideas! The most ambitious I've ever been in the modeling department has been kitbashing... but I'm looking to do more difficult things with my 1000 Sons. I especially like the idea of floating tanks and Tzeentchen mutation. I also think your paint ideas will do wonders!
