It just occurred to me how damaging these little brutes could be in a game of apocalypse.

If they were able to get close to the titan all hell would break loose for the Imperium player.

Is there any protection for Titans against the entrophic strike ability? Or is it just like any other vehicle?

Quite many Necron abilities are just completely broken in apocalypse enviroment:
Scarabs can kill titans and superheavies very easily,
Writhing Worldscape / Temporal snares combo,
Imhoteks Lord of The Storm etc.

For example, the firepower of Lighting attacks from Lord of the Storm pretty much equal one GK Psyfleman dreadnought for every 6 hostile units on table.

For Entropic Strike, you could try and house-rule that Super Heavies, Titans, and Garantuan Creatures are immune to Entropic Strike, or only affected on a 6 (but even then, scarabs can generate so many hits that it's a negligible change).

But then again, Apocalypse has huge numbers of blast and template weapons that are usually Strength: D or S6+, so it could be argued that the guy on the recieving end of a swarm large enough to down a titan absolutely deserves it.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Considering that the titan can easily kill a scarab squad easily with just one of its basic 7" blasts causing both double wounds and instant death.

Heavies without a 5" blast is a bit more hosed though.

Sounds funny until you realise the scarabs have to get there first. If you somewhere ignored the giant horde of scarabs then you're not a very good general...

If by "giant" you mean "10 or so"...
10 scarabs is more than enough to reduce a vehicle to scrap in one round.

Hold on, What about the "Endless Swarm" stratagem, or is that a Nids' thing?

EDIT: Also, Spyders.

Getting them up close will be easier, and the fact that they are an MC will demolish most things that assault them

They aren't immune to ID though, so a Strength: D blast that manages to cover spyders and scarabs removes several threats at once when you factor in that neither unit gets RP.

Assuming the pie is A) on target and B) is large enough to cover the whole lot of them.

Also, does S: D auto-wound as well as auto-pen?

It doesn't have to cover all of them; for a Strength: D weapon to remove a scarab swarm of 10 bases it only needs to cover 5, because it auto-wounds, inflicts instant death, and because swarms are vulnerable to blasts, and so take 2 ID wounds for every 1 inflicted; for the Spyder, it just needs to touch it to nuke it thanks again to auto-wounding, inflicting ID and the spyder not having an invul.

Using the Eldar D weapons from IA11, Pulsars are Heavy 2 Large Blasts, the Cobra's D-Cannon is Ord. 1 10" blast, Phantom Pulsars are Heavy 4 Large Blast, the Phantom D-Cannon is Ord. 1 10" blast.

It'd be difficult to miss anything with those; scattering a maximum of 8" (Average of 3-4") unless the D-Cannons are fired indirectly. That's even if they're targeting Scarabs; Night Spinners do the exact same thing for far less, only allowing cover from area terrain and requiring 2s to wound.

so the answer to my question of "is S: D an auto-wound" would be a yes then?
