I've got a techmarine off ebay. The backpack is glued on nice and tight so I can't get a scapel behind it. Is there anything I can do to remove the superglue? ie dip it in some sort of solution?
The model itself is metal, so I'm pretty sure it will be able to withstand a chemical bath, I'd hope.

If the model is metal, drop it in acetone.. It will do 2 things, strip your model and take out the super glue..

Hot water should do the trick. Drop it in, leave it for a few minutes and then see if it has come apart. If not it should be easier to pry apart.

Freezing supposedly make the already brittle superglue brittler, obviously this could take longer.

Well, here's what you do.

Buy some dettol

strip the model (IF IT IS RESIN, DO NOT DO THIS. The model will warp.)

Pull the backpack off that way. C'mon, you're an aussie. you can pull a bit o' super glue off.

Really, the easiest way to get one off is brute force. Freezing it will not help

Putting it in hot water would work too, but to be honest it's a bit of a waste of time. Truly, you must have absoloutely no finger strength if you can't get that piece off. (or your seller is a jerk.)

Acetone, nail polish remover, gasoline (petrol to you folks), or some other caustic liquid. (Dettol will work too, just use it straight.)

Use gloves.

The metal miniature will be the only other thing in the jar after it soaks for a few hours.

ONLY METAL WILL SURVIVE!
Plastic, static grass, paint, glue of all types, etc will dissolve.

I've tried temperature-based methods like putting them in hot water or freezing, and I've found they haven't made a difference.

I've had mixed success using alcohol. Like acetone, it's a solvent, but unlike acetone, it's safe to use on plastic. Either ethanol or isopropanol will work, and will come with the added benefit of also stripping paint.
