Continuing on with the line of questions studying the interactions between the Imperium and Mechanicus...

We all know the standard policy - Black Ships come ever some odd 100 years to a world and extract from the planet the raw psyker material that will become Navigators, Astropaths, Imperial Sanctioned psykers or mulch for the Golden Throne.

But, what happens on the Forge Worlds where Imperial authority seems to falter a bit - or rather is modified to fit the eccentricities of the Cult?

So Imperial authority does extend over the Forge Worlds of Mechancius in that regard?

More like the Mechanicus agrees that this is the best thing to do to them.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Not really.

I think they give them to the black ships because they don't need them. It's like if I'm not living in America, but an American garbage scow comes by and asks me for my trash, I'll go ahead and give it to him - I WANT it off of my planet.

Hmm.. well it does speak to the interesting and ongoing symbiosis between the Imperium and Mechanicus.

Forge Worlds toss out the Psykers but get back Astropaths and Navigators to pilot their ships.

Forge Worlds don't have the resources or even the desire to train psykers. Untrained psykers are a liability at best.

The Mechanicus is a rather conservative organization most of the time so they wouldn't have the need or care to integrate psykers into their work aside from what is conservatively necessary (Astropaths, Navigators, etc).
